I got diagnosed last week. They gave me 2 antibiotics that I don’t like taking. They helped with the inflammation. I feel better pain wise. Now the problem is I’m scared to eat anything because I don’t know what foods caused flareups.

I find oregano oil to be helpful when a flare up happens.., one dr mentioned a potential bacterial problem .., oregano oil has always helped with bacterial anything in my experience. Which is why probiotics are often suggested to be helpful.

So sad to here about this condition for the first time at age 69...Showed up on my colonoscopy.
@jakek75989 ай бұрын
Better than at age 35. It's a horrible thing to have. But not getting flare ups is important. I had a perforated colon for Xmas 23. That's how I learned. Took a month and a half to feel 100% then just this week I'm back in the ER with another infection.

It's all very confusing as the FODMAP and carnivore people say that fibre, grains and seeds are the very things that irritate and degrade our gut.....
@carolosborne126 Жыл бұрын
I’ve been looking at the FODMAP diet and my understanding is that certain types of foods that ferment in your digestive system cause the symptoms of IBS and other issues such as gas, bloating, etc.. Fiber keeps things moving through the digestive track.

not clear info: these are great for diverticulosis NOT diverticulitis, which calls for clear liquid diet transitioning to low residue diet.

so besides fiber and probiotics, would any of these supplements be worth taking year-round to prevent a flare up? also, what do you think about using oil of oregano for flare ups?
@BodyManual4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, these supplements could be taken on a regular basis depending upon the individual's case. Aloe vera juice and L-Glutamine could be particulary beneficial. Oil of oregano is a powerful infection fighter and immune booster. It could help prevent infection if used at the first signs of a flare up. I also highly recommend digestive enzymes be taken with each meal on a regular basis. Diverticulitis can be the result of poor digestion. @@BodyManual thank you... any particular dosage you would recommend for supplementing L- Glutamine daily for flare-up prevention?
@BodyManual4 жыл бұрын
@@proto74 You're welcome! Dr.Huntington will return with an answer for you very soon. Have you tried bone both? It is an excellent source of L-Glutamine and other healing nutrients that you can have daily.
@BodyManual4 жыл бұрын
@@proto74 Glutamine is an amino acid. Your body produces it and you also get it in your food. However, in certain situations and health conditions, it becomes necessary to get additional glutamine from your diet above what you get on a daily basis-- and flare-ups from diverticulitis can be one of them. There is not much research on dosage, but there is some evidence that 20-40 g per day is a range that is therapeutic. Most likely, you are already getting some in your food. My Leaky Gut Support formula contains 1.25 g of Glutamine, along with many other gut support nutrients. If you take Leaky Gut Support, consider taking a glutamine supplement by capsule or powder. Glutamine capsules often come in 0.5 g doses. Consider starting with an extra 3-4 grams by supplement, and work the dosage up each day until you find the point where you feel better. In terms of food, bone broth is a great source of glutamine. Here is a link to Leaky Gut Support: bodymanual.com/products/leaky-gut-support Best, Dr. Huntington

Unfortunately that's all they do mostly. Prescribe prescribe prescribe antibiotics. And a cat scan to boot or an ultrasound. Best thing to do is take charge of your own health body and mind and be aggressive about what you eat drink and stress too. Stay away from bleached white flour, wheat gluten, pastas, white rice, garbage GMO artificial bio engineered fake phoney junk food drink groceries. Eat the real stuff and fruits, vegetables, beans, real natural fibers, apple cider vinegar, real yogurts with the 5 or 6 bacterias, aloe Vera juice, oregano oil, beet juice, and anything that kills the e-coli bacteria. Garlic, onions, real honey, curcumin, lots of clean water. Many other things you can do too
