I kinda agree but at the same time I really dont feel it applies to this one, why a +1700 ranked player(and 2 others) thought it was a good idea to leave their backs exposed and unscouted after the first backstab is just one of those things that while it was amazing to watch, they 200% did it to themselves. Handful of scout planes would have stopped this from working, probably only reason it worked was because the team was convinced they had won the game so they stopped playing. Its fun to watch something like a sports game where one team comes back from being behind 20 goals but its a bit less impressive when it only happened because the other team left the field.

@Puschit12 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Team 1 was somewhat throwing this. The first kill can happen but after you just got sniped like this and erased the stealth fire base, the next thing you'll do would be sending Spyplanes everywhere, preferably on patrol, right? I mean if one of you gets nuked, everyone else builds SMD, if one of you gets telemazord, the surviving ones get mazer-defence etc. Slacking on it gave us this fantastic game but it was due to Brammel. I love his casts but it's also due to people always sending him the best material. And although part of his cast as always him missing something, it really got out of hand in this one. He somehow missed both the Yolonoa Oss and Paragon being built. He knew a big navy battle was brewing but went off to count single gunships while attack pings were going, navy battle was raging and a big air battle on top of it. He called naval factories land factories and confused teams many times claiming for example the Nothas were attacking the wrong side or the Barracudas were attacking naval factories. He even needed to qaudruple-check if that T3-naval yard was building a Neptune or Summit even though the Summit is his all-favourite unit. And that's just what I remember after the fact. Legendary. Applause to Willow for not only trying but actually pulling these of successfully. This shows again what awareness, thinking outside the box and courageous, calculated risk-taking can accomplish. Supreme Commander provided all the puzzle pieces for Willow to combine them with the openings team 1 left. Since the conventional battle was lost, there was no further risk actually to try those strategies. Going down the conventional way the game would be a loss, so why not get balls to the wall and do something they probably never expect? Very well done, I really enjoyed watching that game!

Place 2 goes to Voodoo who uplifted his ACU in a transport along a Deceiver, flew around the edge the entire map to stealth-build not one but TWO Monkeylords in the back of the opponents and then released them perfectly timed so they arrive at two different islands at the same time to take out both remaining opponents before getting whiped out himself. And my favouite is still that move where several Aeon players teleported 6 or so SACUs into the back of the opponent's base on Canis and then used their sacrifice ability to insta-build a Colossus. I just love the ingenuity and the fact it involves an ability nobody else ever used before. The only downside is that this play didn't win the game for them. This game here surely delivers on the dramaturgy level.

@Jonas Jonaitis What kind of logic is that. You don't know in advance what will be relevant and what won't. Both Para and Oss are very expensive and time consuming, not knowing they are under construction means bases haven't been checked for a long time. It's just odd he missed both, regardless of relevance.

@Jonas Jonaitis The fact that it *immediately* worked again like this actually makes it less impressive to me. Because defeating an enemy who didn't think "gee, maybe I should have vision on my side of the map" after it burned them devalues the accomplishment. It's not like there was some clever deception to make them think it was safe again. Imagine how much cooler it would have been if they'd set those gunships on patrol to keep Willow from doing it again, but he'd had some Percies walk up on a beach to draw away the gunships, and only *then* teleported back for the second base. But instead, despite Willow having set up bases on their side of the map TWICE already in the game -- don't forget the one at the beginning -- they still lost to it happening a THIRD time, having not put any precautions in place at all. (See also the Com in the base that got TML sniped dying to a Billy, when a Billy is stopped by both TMD and shields.)

@@pfeilspitze We have to remember, we only saw Gyle's perspective. He didn't notice the spy planes from Willow's teammate that kept the opponent's coms in view, and who knows what else was going on that he didn't catch, because he was so focused on the engineering stations being built. The fact is, chaos was trying to move his com somewhere safe, while dealing with having everything suddenly come online for him, and WIllow took advantage of the chaos. He wasted no time at the end, and if you've been so focused on just ending the game traditionally, like the top side team was, you'd have a hard time reacting so well to this strategy. Now, I will agree that the opening base is technically on their side of the map, but it's not in the same category at all as the ending ones. In other words, this did require some foolishness on one team's part, but they had it in the bag. Not only that, but usually telesnipes go back home. They bargained with the wrong Willow. Plus, he might not have realized it was a billy nuke because of the torp bombers. Subterfuge was not missing here.

LOL. What a finish. Great map too. Hope we see Willow again. That was brilliant.

Those darn Cybrans were at it again....where are the 12 legions of Percivals when you need them? I think Yolona-point-defense would've been the correct play there. Even with the base gone from the first nuke, the navy still would've taken it out by the time it got another couple of shots off to clear the water.

Agreed. If i had had more time in a match with less chaos, that's a take i would have had too.

That or he should've coordinated with his cybran teammate to laser the SMD
@UnknownKnower22 жыл бұрын
Benefit of hindsight. Willow shot two supernukes at two noobs hoping that they had built less than 4 SMDs. This was a good gamble and with the information at hand, the right choice. In the end, the yolona was taken out by a counter-nuke because the reality was that he had no SMD and his targets had 4 SMDs (and yellow had a nuke sub). So point-defense might have gotten more bang for buck, but with the information that willow had at his disposal, this was the best Risk-to-Reward play.
