Rufus/Lily & Dan/Blair - "Sky's Still Blue"

For me, I think Rufus&LIly and Dan&Blair are more similar. Like, how Blair and Lily are both uptown girls who grew up in elite families and are used to money, whilst Dan and Rufus are brooding, middle-class artists who are outcasts. Also, I remember reading somewhere else that Dan and Rufus both find artistic inspiration from Blair and Lily respectively. Dan wrote an entire book starring Blair and Rufus wrote a song about Lily. These two couples just... fit for me. It's really just an opinion.

As always, you are sheer perfection :) I feel like Lily's wild and rebellious ways make her appear like Serena, but she always struck me as a grown-up Blair who lost her true love and locked up her heart for 2 decades. A Blair without true friends or love would be one mean, icy bitch indeed -- but deep down just sad, insecure and vulnerable (we saw that in the first three episodes of Season 1). Imagine 20 years of that! The sad part is that as much of a Rufly fan as I am, Dan/Blair had a better thing going for them in Season 5. Dan knew exactly how appalling Blair could be, but accepted and loved her just for that... while during the whole inheritance debacle , Rufus couldn't accept Lily. He never even got that it wasn't about money! He ignored her grief, need for control, and tendency to push people away when she's hurting... and you'd think after over 2 decades, he'd know her best. Personally I think that was just bad writing (the show did become almost unbearable in Season 5), but it seems like Rufus and Lily were only truly like Dan and Blair when they were teenagers themselves.

Thank you:D Yeah I have to agree with all that, especially the bad writing. Rufus knew her well in the first seasons and then in season 5 it's all like he doesn't understand anything about her. Ugh, broke my heart.

This is amazing! The song is perfect. And so is all your colouring. Wow, I love Dair, a lot of that is because of how similar to rufly they are. But omg you showed me loads more examples of how alike they really are! Never even thought of the 'I need a friend' lines, but of course it's so true. Such a wonderful video, well done!

(Part 2) dresses and letting them get married to the wrong guy - lol Dan and Rufus are SO alike, it's kinda hilarious! And now I'm thinking Lily is more like Blair than Serena lmao. :P So many other comparisons work really well in this vid too btw. I don't remember the earlier seasons of GG much but I know I loved Rufly in seasons 1-2 - I also love the sweet/simple married relationship they have now in s5. I am loving seeing all those moments from this season in this because they're fresh. :D

She did tell Rufus in 1x18 that she loves Bart but it was very lightly said. I got the impression she really wanted to get married and have a stable relationship after all those failed ones and with Rufus it felt too risky, like going back to her past mistakes. Plus they had that kid together she didn't want to tell him about. Blair/Louis on the other hand...ugh don't even feel like analyzing them cos he was such a useless character lol. But yeah I agree with you;)

Yeah she does do that xD But I wouldn't put the blame on Serena in Lily's case cos I think Lily was just hoping for some excuse to not choose Rufus. She really loved the idea of Bart as you said but then again she really loved Rufus and couldn't choose until Serena made it easy for her. She could always say she did it for her daughter and feel good about it that way. It's funny how it doesn't bother Serena anymore that her and Dan's parents were married haha.

I see their marriage as a kind of Blair/Louis one (social status and "For some reason I can't be with that other guy" issues), only a bit longer, which couldn't have been easier, lol, but both B and L felt trapped very soon and realized it was just getting in the way of them and Dan/Rufus.

Yeah she probably loved the idea of Bart more than Bart himself, as you said, she wanted a stable relationship, well just like Blair, but Lily chose Bart because Serena wanted Dan and begged her mother not to be with her boyfriend's dad (which didn't bother her anymore this season), and D/S broke up right after so she ruined Rufly for nothing in the first place, and I don't need to remind you of what she did in the finale! Serena's always getting in the way, what a good daughter and BFF!...
