Part 8: I adore this song, so much. And I was so excited to click on this video of yours. And I read the description first before watching the video. But then as soon as I hit "play", I was already completely in love with the concept of this vid, with you starting it off with that Rufus voiceover that explains everything. Aww thank you so much!! Yeah the ending gave me way too many things to deal with, it's one thing not to have them end up together but Lily with William?? William??? That was like my biggest nightmare when it comes to GG lol. I'm happy for Chair fans though, at least some people got their happy ending;) But yeah I'm mad about Rufly. Part 7: Now despite all that support for both Derena & Rufly being endgame at the same time... I personally still feel confused by Serena still being in love with Dan in season 5 (& 6). I feel like it came out of nowhere and idk I kinda wish they'd ended the show with Chuck/Blair, Nate/Serena, and Dan alone and failing at love because he tried to learn life lessons from Bart bass or something. :P I mean so many options to end the show, and they chose this way. It's just insane to me. Anyway...

I don't think it's a coincidence that both Dair and Rufly were broken up out of the blue at the end of season 5 when the writing team changed. Two such long storylines killed in seconds, lovely. Oh and I'm glad you liked the last scene, I thought the ending might have been different had Rufus asked her one last time;)

Part 9: is also completely spectacular throughout this whole thing! I love at the beginning "so complicated" combined with Lily's voiceover to match it. Or Lily "only trying to bury the pain" by drinking... like you explained in your description your thoughts on that... I just love all of the little details. Your use of this song is so unique and creative and perfect and you created such an emotional and in-depth study of Lily's character & their relationship and made the show kind of make sense

Part 10: In a way I never really thought would be possible. You explained the way they ended season 6 so well lmao!! :P And so yeah it's sad that she hasn't learned enough even by then, still "looking for a shortcut home", this time with William as her ridiculous choice of "shortcut", but it actually works in my mind lmao. Amazing video! and the song fits them perfectly...I never really thought about it but I think you are right, it kinda makes sense if you think about it and she probably only got back with William in the end because she knew that Serena and Dan still loved each other and that they would get married eventually. Part 3: with her choice and jealous of Rufus's girlfriends for the rest of her life? That's how I see it now anyway lol. Idk, I was just trying to make sense of it all with this video. Part 2: over after the awful way they were handled in 5x24. This one Rufly fan kept telling me all summer that they were gonna break them up for Derena and I kept telling her no, that would be insane. Umm, but I didn't realize they actually were insane...although I don't think even the writers knew how the show was gonna end, I think Savage only told them as late as possible. Well that's my guess, it would explain the gallery thing and other stuff. Unless they were writing Lily to be unhappy

Ah so agree! Haha don't worry, I loved Derena in season 1 but got over them in season 2 and now after the finale there's just no way I could ever bring myself to like them. To me they should have stayed as a high school couple. I don't get why they wrote Dan to be so judgmental even in S6 if they were going to be endgame...they completely turned it all around. Well I'm just gonna pretend everything that happened leading to the finale matters more than how they actually ended things;)

I completely agree. I shipped Derena until the s1 finale. Then I just got turned off. But especially now after s6, I really couldn't like it. lol but you're right. Journey is always more important than destination! I only got one of my ships to get a good destination in this show, but Rufly definitely had a hell of a journey!

Yeah I completely agree with all of that. :P Plus, I mean Jack broke up Chair in season 3 so both of them being so fine with Jack being so involved at the end and like encouraging them to get married was all kinda weird lmao! :P I was pleasantly surprised to see Vanessa in the finale and Dair moments throughout s6 at least. :P I wish I could be pleasantly surprised by Eric & Jenny but I saw Taylor Momsen's name in the opening guest star credits and her appearance ended up being another let down.

Part 6: of the world, to me. So when the siblings aren't even biologically related in any way, their children have no risk of getting awful recessive traits and stuff... then what is the justification for feeling freaked out by the concept? It's not like Dan & Serena even really ever lived together as siblings, and especially not in the "growing up together" kind of way that might make it extra weird - by the time their parents got married, Dan was off to college lmao! It's just so frustrating.

Aaaww I totally thought of you when I watched the finale. I knew you would be devastated. I'm upset too. Rufly are my third fave GG ship, so despite my happiness over the Chair wedding/family, I was really bummed about everything else. Lily's ending was god awful! William? REALLY? GMAFB! And this whole "Rufly can't be together because of Derena" thing makes no sense. It's okay to have a mutual sibling, but their parents being married is too much? re your summary, that seems to be a logical expelation, no matter how much it must have hurt to say it. But I think I'll stick with 'it makes no sense', because as your video shows and says it a few times, they do love each other, so logically they would have found a way to stay together. But like the lyrics said, it's water under the bridge, let's focus on the happy time they spent together. :)

It really should have. I just finished watching the retrospective like weeks AFTER seeing the finale lol and um they even teased the end of the episode so much at the end of that retrospective, which people were supposed to see before the episode, not after like me - and really don't build it up so much when it's so nothing. People are stupid. Gosh lol. :P

Part 4: it was a fairly minor part of the finale - we didn't get to see Lily knowing about William manipulating her and choosing her anyway, or how Rufus ended up with that other woman or Lily ended up with William. We didn't get to see all the crazy stupid stuff, so I don't feel as passionately upset by it. I think the main thing that I do hate about the whole situation is the idea that it had to be Derena OR Rufly, not both. I've always shipped both Luke/Lorelai & Rory/Jess and I don't see how

Part 3: show that Lily loved Rufus way more than anyone else. Part 5: this situation is that much different. I didn't feel weird shipping Justin & Rebecca on Brothers & Sisters even though they thought they were half-siblings for quite a while on that show before realizing they weren't. Incest is a silly taboo anyway, if people want to be with each other and are not going to have biological children, then it doesn't matter if they themselves are biologically related. A consensual loving relationship between true biological siblings is not actually the end

I always thought that Rufly were like the wiser version of DS BECAUSE Rufus accepted Lily for all her good and bad traits where Dan never could with Serena. Oh yes AND he slept with Carol. And they never even showed if she found out about his lies about Ivy. So she basically ended up with someone who manipulated her. Oh and Stephanie Savage had an explanation, she said that he's good for her cos he doesn't judge her like Rufus does when she spikes her tea. The DS marriage was the main reason and that came in 2nd. Err very satisfying...lol. I thought breaking up with Rufus and dating men she didn't love was the reason for her drinking. Oh well...
