There are mainly 5 reasons why the Indian film industries (including all Bollywood and south industries) are struggling- 1. Audience has become more smart and mature regarding content of the movies in comparison with the audience of 80's,90's or early 20's now content is the real king not the celebrity surname. 2. The financial literacy has been increasing between the common people of India so they calculate the financial cost of any movie tickets and then they decide to watch it in theatres or to wait for sometime and then watch it on OTT. 3. Availability of top class content from streaming services at very affordable prices and that too with the convenience of watching the movies or shows at any time, anywhere with options like fast forward,skip,pause, multiple times watchable,etc so it provides more control over the content to the audience. 4. After pandemic people have become more restless and more practical so now they can't digest illogical, boring or unrealistic movies they simply think that it's the wastage of their time and money. 5. People now have numerous options for their entertainment which are more satisfying and cheaper than watching movies and that too in theatres.

I think main problem with theatre is ott. People differentiate between whether movie is made for big screen or television, based on review they'll go to cinema hall otherwise why to waste money, within 3 weeks that movie will release on ott. Hindi film industry should be saved from Punjabi nepotim (producers, directors, actors) as quick as possible, they are using Hindi films to promote Punjabi language, culture, people, characters. They also need to make movies that can bring entire families to movie halls. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ticked this box and won. JugJugg Jeeyo did it, too, and moderately succeeded.

Even commercial cinema in South will have some message, and people just don't blindly throng the theatres. Only fans go, Pushpa is pretty average in South but somehow became blockbuster in north. U spoke about rrr and KGF, what separates is the bgm, hero intro, camera work, choreography etc. which is way better than bollywood. I do agree bollywood makes content driven films but they also don't get collections. In South Even if u r a superstar content is demanded, Jr. NTR is a huge star but received flops for years, rajnikant's recent movies are flops too, mahesh Babu's Spyder and brahmotsavam was a flop. People don't give a damn if there is no content even in commercial cinema.

Audience yahan actors ki loyalty nahi, balki movie ko movie ki tarah hi treat kar rahi hai, which is a good thing.
