Surefire suppressor carbon locked onto the mount? Simply loosen the lock collar and shoot the suppressor off. This video provides a live fire demonstration of that process. Rifle is a colt sopmod block II clone with 14.5" socom barrel. Suppressor is a surefire FA56-212.

This always freaks people out when they see this but this is literally in the owners manual of surefire suppressors. Surefire makes awesome cans but I think some other manufacturers using tapers now have better mounting systems that prevent this from ever being an issue.

I mean the first time I did it I was freaked out as well haha. After doing it for years though I really don’t see an issue and in some cases it’s actually rather handy. Like you say newer suppressors seem to handle carbon build up much better. Thanks for watching!

***It is NOT in the manual (I have one right in front of me) and after asking Surefire reps directly in-person to dispel myths, they do NOT recommend shooting their suppressors off and the only limited cases people have had with locking issues is if the initial notch wasn't lined up and the locking collar was locked down which you run a high chance of baffle strike. If there is a carbon lock issue with a suppressor (which is rare according to them), soak it in CLR for up to 48 hours and/or utilize a wrench strap.

@kujob6442

I’m sure you found your answer by now, but just remove the can after every session of shooting and clean the mounting area with clp or whatever cleaner. This should prevent a carbon lock, but if you shoot 500+ rounds in a day, you might be out of luck and you’ll have to shoot it off. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I wouldn’t put any anti seize on it if if we’re me I guess.
