I love the Professor Layton universe SO much, you guys. I'm happy to finally be uploading another song from the series! This is the ending theme to the last installment of the series -- Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy.
These English lyrics are loosely based upon the meaning of the original Japanese version of the song, but I took some free reign with them, so it's not quite a direct translation.

I feel like this really fits Layton and all he's been through in his life. Talking about the falling snow reminds me of the last scene with Claire in Unwound Future, talking about meeting friends again even though they're gone makes me think of Luke and how they promised to remain close even though they're so far apart, and stuff like that. The one that really got me was "Leave behind the pain you've known and open up you're heart so you can live and learn." That's really Layton there, I think. Like he's gone through so, so much in his life, but he remains positive and works through his pain so that he can continue experiencing life and learn new things and be happy.

Some people say this is aurora talking to Luke, or emmy talking to Layton, but it's not. It's Layton talking to his brother. He knows he left with nowhere to go, having fulfilled his life goal. He knows his brother gave up everything to make sure Theodore was safe, even if it meant living as a different person, a small child alone with no one to love him. Layton/Theodore promises to make up for his brother's wasted life, he'll repay the love he gave. And surely someday, he'll find a way to him.

I just finished this game, and I loved the actual gameplay, but I felt the ending was really weak. Especially how they handled Descole and Emmy's departures from the series. I really like how this song could be sung by or for so many of the Professor Layton characters, and it would still fit. It could be Aurora singing it for Luke, or Emmy for Layton, or even Layton for Descole. It's also the series saying farewell to the player. It has so much meaning!

I just wanted to say I love this translation so much, and I'm a camp counselor at a Girl Scout summer camp and when I run out of slow camp songs to sing at night when I have girls having trouble falling asleep I sing them this song and they love it a lot. Even though it's a long shot, I REALLY hope they bring Emmy back in the new game. After all, it's been, what, almost a decade since Azran Legacy? I think she'd have found her redemption, and then some at this point. And that hug as the end of Legacy was so genuine and heartbreaking. Like, is it weird that I see Layton and Emmy together? Jesus. This is amazing. Professor Layton has played a huge part in my life. I absolutely loved the series growing up, and still love them to this day. It takes me back to my childhood of playing the games on my old DS late at night pretending to be asleep. My very first Layton game was actually Curious Village. Then I started buying the other games and playing some of the ones my sister had until I played them all. And honestly, Professor Layton is just amazing. So amazing, words can't even describe. As well as being a mystery-detective sort of series, what stuck out to me was the stories and endings, on top of the characters. Spoiler alert for the endings of the games! Like in Curious Village. Where Flora left her home. Then in Lost Future, Layton loses Claire again. And Luke leaves Layton too. That ending where Layton started crying, as well as Luke saying to Professor "I'm sorry...but I'm not ready to be a gentleman yet!" then breaking down into tears...man. Professor was like a father to Luke. So seeing them part was sad, but they were together for the future games.

You can really tell that the Azran legacy is arguably the best and most emotional episode of the entire series, as everyone appears to go their seperate ways. I adore this version of the song moreso than any of them, and I love this song the most out of any of the Layton songs. It is such a wonderful blend of sadness to move on while being excited for new journeys. I’ve listened to this quite a bit for the last few years, however due to its melancholic nature it isn’t a sure fire on loop song.
