It's essentially the reciprocal method but you skip the flipping and go straight to finding the sum of the two. Very nice!

Sir in the second example you have assumed A alone working for 10hrs. If you change this assumption lets to 9..then answer will be different..I think you see to it.thanks

It only makes sense that the answer is different, if A works less, then it means that B must do more of the work which is why he will take longer to finish the job. A = 10; B = x; A+B = 6 B = 15h A = 9; B = x; A+B = 6 B = 18h (From same method) In the first case, A does more work, so B doesn't have to do as much, but in the second case, A does only 9 hours of work, so B has to do extra work to compensate for A's laziness

is it not exactly the same as the reciprocal law is 1/x+1/y=x+y/xy and then taking the reciprocal of it again will give you the same formula taught here

Yes but it is faster because you do not have to take the reciprocal of both given, then add them together 1/8 + 1/10 = 9/40 -> 40/9 is slower 8*10/8+10
