I'm glad to hear that, thank you. A rational approach to training and movement, so that it carries over to our sport / hobby

One of the big benefits in skating surf style is you can really pay attention to what you are doing with your arms and train the proper movements. While you are actually surfing there's too much other more important stuff going on to think about your arms. Way easier to get video footage to evaluate your style.
@SurfStrengthCoach4 жыл бұрын
the primary benefit (and I agree with you), is that the surf skate stuff allows you to work on, develop, and most importantly, FEEL the patterns. by pattern I mean the positions and how your body positioning influences the rail (surfboard or surfskate). someone needs the repeatability of the surfskate to help drill repetition, which is what most surfers lack. we can't just go to the driving range to practice.

great set of exercises, unstable/uneven surface work is so important for all sorts of health reasons. I dont know how many crossfit gym junkies I know who are uncoordinated klutzes! They only ever work in single motions and on firm fixed floors.

Wow, this is so cool! I'm not a spring chicken but I totally want to be able to stand on a board before my body crumbles! This is exactly what I was looking for and really cool explanations! Thank you!

So funny you mentioned slack lines. I just got one a few weeks ago and started using it for this exact reason!
@SurfStrengthCoach4 жыл бұрын
dude, they're so fun. even just a few minutes a day, breaks up the monotony of work, but really does carry over to how our vestibular and propioceptive systems function optimally

Great video Cris Mills! What are your thoughts of dual / parallel slack lines? We have used them in training for alpine ski racing and it works to create balance and transition. Would it also apply to surfing? It seems similar to the the parallel PVC pipe exercise.
@SurfStrengthCoach4 жыл бұрын
in terms of unstalbe surfaces it would "apply". obviously the mechanics of being on top of a surfboard are very different than pvc pipes or slack lines. i'd look at it more along the lines of intrinsic foot strength and body awareness than a direct "performance" carryover. does that make sense?

love the app and the OMBE crossreferences! About all the hype regarding surfskates, do you feel they're paramount or any skateboard/longboard will help with it even though surfstakes would be ideal... thanks a ton!
@SurfStrengthCoach3 жыл бұрын
the more realistic the training environment, the more direct the carryover. they're not necessary, but they're certainly helpful. cheers Allan

Awesome, Cris! Thank you! Can you please tell me how big your PVC pipes are? I've been using my Indo Board roller for balance practice, but it's single and much larger than the pipes you're using. Thx! 🤙🏼
@SurfStrengthCoach4 жыл бұрын
they're about a 5-6inch diameter. the diameter is a bit wider than the width of my hand. enjoy!

Hey bro, just been looking through the app and I really want to help you out and also get properly fit for the ocean. But as I’m locked in at home I only have a yoga mat, two dumbbells, gym ball and Indo board. I want to hit up your full 12 week program but don’t want to spend loads and loads on equipment to start the program. Is there a chance you could develop or will develop a course like Centr 6? Where it’s body weight and dumbbells? Maybe add in the balance board? Idk as I’m not a gym guy I’m not a coach yk but it would be so sick if there was a program without as much necessity for a full gym? Especially as it would be ideal to have a surf workout program I could pack into a car and take with me on trips? Anyway, I love this channel so much and the app looks sick so far like really professional and yeah. You’ve got a fan in me for sure. H

Great exercises! Cris, you said you had broken your foot in the past? I broke my ankle last year and it's still tight and not as flexible. Do you have any tips to help that?

Hi Chris I wanted to ask about the 12 week programme. If I was to buy it is it available to me then indefinitely? Or after 12 weeks is it essentially gone and I can't access it? Cheers gently loving the videos psyched at 43 to be doing my best surfing and having the most fun 🤙 cheers Jon
