Surf Fishing for False Albacore on the North Fork of Long Island!!!

So I put together some pics and clips of fishing for Albies. We are just outside of Orient NY on Long Island Sound. When I picked up the kids from Oysterponds Elementary School we would drive the beaches in search of action. Sept-Nov the teachers knew the Black Jeep loaded down with rods was on a mission. My kids learned a lot going everyday and they stayed in shape hiking up and down the beach. Holding a camera was not a strong suit yet. So I hope you enjoy some of out Albie moments of 2016.

Never caught a false albacore before. We catch bonita for days tho. Are those guys any better to eat?

SlotCityFishing If your talking about Green Bonito they fight just as hard if not more. If your talking Florida Bonito they are the same fish just different slang names up and down the coast. They get up to low 20lbs. and are a true Mackerel. Red/brown flesh more brown. I can't stomach fileting it but my neighbor who grew up on mackerel as a kid loves them.
