I haven't been on the board in 1.5 years and put.on 60 more lbs. Today I couldn't pop up it beat me down. Ty I'll try this technique.

This is some great info mate. While I’m not obese I am overweight and have a paunch and hence don’t have flexibility. Found it very hard to get my leg thru and caught very few waves. I’ll try this next time.

This is exactly my problem especially as I have got older. Glad I,m not the only one with this issue.

This is very interesting. I am 62yo with backbone issues that prevent me from poping up "normaly". One thing I see with this technique, is that you loose time. This little time lost is crucial. To not be too far forward the wave, and go straight to the beach, you must angle the board, while sliding your knees.

I have definitely lost my flexibility even though I have been surfing for nearly 30 years. My pop up is slow but I can still get into clean faces but I also find that as my energy level drops after a longer surf, my pop up fails so I,v started splitting sessions to an hour to hour and a half then take a break, hydrate well and rest for half hour or so. Seems to work OK so far.

I can see this technique working on surfing river waves that are much harder to catch than ocean waves.
