Yes, I really hoped that the new pen / keyboard would be compatible with this device, but afterwards the Pen is not really that important I guess. The battery of the Normal Surface Pen should hold around a Year, so you really never have to worry about recharging (While I see many iPad and Apple Pencil users sticking their pen in their lightning port of the iPad in every single lecture). You don't get it - the whole point of using ARM chips is to allow them to make such smaller devices with lower (around 4-7W) wattage versus their more power hungrier Intel counterparts (15-40w). It's different architectures for different scenarios, and don't even intend to argue about keeping it simple with an Intel because trust me: it's not THAT simple (Computer Scientist here)... The world would be such a different place if ARM went mainstream.

I preordered a Pro X (arrives tomorrow) I did get to play around with a model at my local Best Buy and I came away impressed. Naturally, its all about what you use your machine for and your expectations. For me, I love the LTE inclusion so that I don't have to pair my laptop with my phone or hunt for WiFi in a pinch. If I am candid about my typical use, it is Office apps (Outlook + Word), web browsing, playing music...and that's about all. Can I appreciate why folks would want more power for their $1200 investment? Sure. But this is about portability, always on (LTE) and a familiar ecosystem/OS to work with. For me, the sleek form factor, ability to easily connect to my peripherals at home via the Surface Dock and the LTE is what sold me. Sure, I could get a more powerful machine, but then I give up the LTE and form factor.

i don’t get it. they already made this product with the original surface rt. i don’t see a significant push to get more apps into Windows ARM, so what makes them think they can do better this time?

I wish everyone would stop complaining about the Surface's bezels. People need them to grab the tablet properly. Stop.
@AlexSchwartzATV5 жыл бұрын
Same with iPad and it's bezels. Even on my iPhone when im passing it to someone to show them something 6/10 times it gets messed up because theres no way to easily grab it 🤣

Microsoft now has Linux embedded into Windows 10 so they should just work a little harder and make windows 10 run android apps natively, plus this is an arm chip too
@Katzelle35 жыл бұрын
@@SamBao Linux =/= Android Android apps run on on top of another program, kinda like how web apps run on top of Chrome.
@SamBao5 жыл бұрын
@@Katzelle3 yes you cannot directly run android apps in Linux, that's why I said Microsoft needs to bridge the gap to do so
@Katzelle35 жыл бұрын
@@SamBao You don't need Linux to run Android software is what I'm saying here. ART could run on Windows and it already runs on Fuchsia, which contains no Linux code.

Watching the keynote, I was impressed with the Surface Pro X until I heard it was running an ARM processor. I know it's the future, but that's not great for now.
