i love the tape approach to make a perfect line in the glassing, my first work was in a surf factory and we rarelly used that approach. My boss was really experienced (was like 50 and started at 14) and he didn't need it to do the job, but i love how the tape leaves a perfect line.

Your attention to detail is so therapeutical, even a perfectionist like me it is so relaxing, I definitely calm down and have chance to empty my mind during the process. Bravo really! I would be really appreciated if I would have a chance to ride one of your boards one day. Being a surfer and experiencing the ride on these beautiful waves is one of my greatest dreams. I wish everything settles down as it is and that it would come true! Have a wonderful day!

Both are fun. Quad has more drive but twin is the classic and looser. I like sliding some turns so twin is my preference.

That board looks awesome! I was always told to install the fins after lamination on colored boards, but yours turned out clean and crisp. It’s the first time I’ve seen that fin insertion tool. I’ve been using a mallet but that one looks way sleeker. Curious about what spray you use in the end?
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, you can also do it after lamination. Fin remover is super helpful with the FCS 2 fins. I used SprayMax 2x Clear Glamour.

Hello First of all thank you for all these great videos. I would like to know how to calculate the amount of resin needed whether for the stratum or the glass? and secondly, are the quantities of resin the same whether it is polyester or epoxy? Thank you in advance for your reply.
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Epoxy requires less resin than poly. You can use the resin charts on Greenlight Surf Supply’s website.

Beautiful board dude & some sick glassing skills, thanks so much for sharing.. I just have 3 questions as I'm busy hand shaping a fish in my garage for the summer waves in South Africa... 1. What do you print your decals on to ensure they don't smudge when you glass over them? 2. What toe in did you use for the fins? 3. What polishing compounds do you normally use after wet sanding? Thanks again!
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
I use rice paper printed on an ink-jet printer and i've also used boardlams. I use the Terry Senate fin marker. I think this board was 1.25" from the rail with a 1/8" toe. I use Mcguires polishing compound - works ok.

Hey i have a perhaps unrelated question to the video but i figured i have more chance of you sering tjis comment here. For a repair on a PU polyester resin board, should i use laminating resin or can i use epoxy with equal results? Thanks, love the channel, and the inspiration. i would love to shape boards one day!
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Either should work but if you have poly laminating resin I’d use that to match the boards original construction.

Do most shapers use a clear spray at the end or just wet sand (or buff for those shiny longboards) and call it a day? What’s the benefit of the 3x coats of spray?
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
Either can be done. Epoxy is more difficult than poly resin to get a gloss finish and the spray gloss just makes it easier

Hello Bendheim! Great seeing your videos, I am starting to build my own surfboard. I am just having a bit of trouble finding templates. Do you normally design your templates in a shaping software or do you know of any standard library? I have used blending curves, and I have Clark Foam catalog. Blending curves I dont find it that accurate and the clark foam catalog doesnt the have the shape I am thinking. 6' 8'' egg. Thank you and good work :D
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
I really like blending curves but if you need it more custom you can use akushaper
@rodrigomacedo42832 жыл бұрын
@@BendheimBoards Yes, blending curves is good for outlines, but there is no match between outlines and rocker templates. I guess I will just draw one after printing out the outline template. Thank you!

Why not epoxy the tail and top bottom layers first?
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
Bottom is always laminated first
@greatheathen2 жыл бұрын
@@BendheimBoards right, I mean when layed the first layer on the tail, you the layed the second without applying epoxy to the first. You did the same on the top. I am saying that is unusual.
@mwoods32 жыл бұрын
I think it’s actually pretty common to laminate multiple layers at the same time unless you’re doing something fancy. The resin gets through both layers pretty well
@BendheimBoards2 жыл бұрын
@@greatheathen Layers are always done at the same time rather than individually. Saves time and would waste resin to do them separately.
