Thanks🙏, yes, for sure; I looked at the BossUp before this board came out. But I'm so reluctant to jump on a longer board, although it would probably make surfing much more fun. But I really love Tomo shapes so this seemed like a nice compromise and we use to ride this length as a short board. I remember competing in 6’4” and I was skinny🤣 Its still hard looking at the footage with all that board out front and turns are slower of course. I am really excited to see how it performs in bigger conditions🤙

Thanks for the honest review on the Tomo . I, too, am a little older and slowly thinking about the mid-length style of boards. The major downside for me is the airline traveling (over6ft./2m). On the positive side, I only get to surf 1-2 times a year anymore, while I'm living in Innsbruck, Austria. The paddle capability would be a great help to shake the rust off 😂 Anyway, big ❤to you and your camera person, maybe we'll see each other in the lineup in Portugal 😊 Ken
@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
Thanks, Ken 🙏 yes that's a pain, the 6ft limit for airlines. The Revo Max is a great paddler, but it still maintains that shortboard feel and holds really well. It really suprised me the low profile rails its a blade not a barge. Anytime your down this way give a shout🙏🤙

Thanks for the review Mike and Nicky! I'm really interested in this board. Objectively, those waves were pretty wonky (real life) so it's hard to tell how it goes just yet. Your surfing improved as the review neared the end. Looking forward to seeing another review as you get more comfortable with the board. I can feel your stoke which is great! 🙌

Nice review! When I demoed it at the local wave pool I thought it was amazing. I’ve only just started surfing a year ago at 40 and got on the 6.9. it was very forgiving but really turned when you wanted it to. Can wait to buy one

I’m really stoked you like the board. The world is healing - and the shop hookup is sick. You had a great first sesh and that main song is now stuck in my head. Your b roll at @2:25 has me needing to up my game - lovely shots. You surf the board good too / really fast down the line and those were some heavy pits at the end. Board does a super nicely snappy turn and you did heaps of those. I love not having to step all the way back to do turns too / cause I never step back on normal boards anyway and that’s kinda why I don’t use pads lol. Revo Max just glides thru spots that suck and then you don’t realize how small the wave is. But then gets great too when little more wave. Those channels work great and same I don’t feel skatey at all. Cool you went Medium fins too - I have slid a tiny bit when bigger but that’s prob when having both isn’t a bad idea best keels ever.

Wow, thanks, Travis🙏🙏 it's really strange to see all that board out front, and I feel I need some practice on it! I am the same with my feet. My back foot is always too far up, and I have to remind myself to move it back, which can affect my ride on other boards. But this board is really forgiving in that respect. Tomos shapes are always so user-friendly. Our camera died🥲 any advice? Nicky needs something simple to use, and I think a camera setup will irritate her. They don't make video cameras anymore, so they are all 5 or 6 years old. Any tips or advice🙏 it's a really expensive week 🤣

@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
My Revo is 5’6” with 31.4L, and it glides in to wave much better 🤙 I know you want a board for small waves. It surfs in small waves pretty well but is not a groveler. Although you can just move up the board and glide and the board will Cruze without having to do anything. I have only had that one surf; I need to test it more 🙏

Do channels limit the wave range of the board? To me twins always had a great range, small slop to head high ( granted my head high peaks at 5'4" ). Always thought channels required better waves?
@surfingtipsandtricks25 күн бұрын
I haven't had time to test it properly; only two surfs. I think it is very versatile. I have surfed deep channels in the past. It doesnt feel like that. The channels are concave and have a V underneath. When you further up on the board, it feels stiff and has hold; when you have your back foot over the fins, it feels loose and responsive🤙

yo, thanks for the review, i'm really looking forward to trying out the board. My buddy bought 6'0 which might be good for him but I wonder if a 6'3 would be better. Do you feel you could have gone shorter or would have preferred to go longer.
@surfingtipsandtricks29 күн бұрын
Hi Thomye, I am a huge Tomo fan, as you know. I didnt get the 6.0 because it's only 31.3L, which is about the same as my Revo, and I wanted something easy to paddle and catch waves. The board is a blade with really nice low-profile rails. It's hard to see the volume in it, but it paddles well and catches waves easily. I think you will rip on the 6.0, which you will probably feel is a substantial step up. I think all the sizes will go well, and you could almost have the 6’0 “,6’3" or maybe the 6’6” as step-ups. The bigger models would behave more like mid-lengths. Adam, in the comments, got the 6’9” and loves it. It says that it has a mid-length vibe. I have not seen the other models, but it almost feels like you could have two sizes if you were really into the shape: a step-up and a mid-length. I have only had that one surf session, and most of the waves were fat and slow. I'm looking forward to getting into some better waves. But I like the feel of it. It's so forgiving to where you put your feet, has great hold, and surfs fast and fluidly. Dude, that thumbnail on your latest video is rad! 👌 That's a lot of nose. Looking forward to seeing you ride the Revo Max😀🤙

For a guy used to surf tomo boards( i had an Evo and a Hydroshort) it can be strange to have so much nose ahead of you! It seems to me that those are not the kind of waves that board is meant to ride even though you are surfing it really well. I think you will be amazed with how it goes in a fat and long point break. Probably for a board of that type you could and should try the harley ingleby mid 6 ;) Have fun and thank you for the reviews.
@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
Yes, I will be surfing it in bigger waves, and probably also when I don't feel like the effort that sometimes goes into surfing really shortboards. Unfortunately, I don't surf many point breaks these days. I love Tomos shapes, and it's great to have the Evo, Revo and Revo Max! Blessed 🙏🤙thanks and I will check that board out😀

Does it surf similar to the Revo at all like a bigger Revo or completely different?

I would love the volume of the 6’6” but I'm not sure I am ready for more nose out front. I have been riding 5’6”s so the swing weight is a big shift. I am 6 ‘ and 78kg -172Ibs ( on a good day🤣) 🙏🤙

I’m on my 4th session on my 6’9 Revo Max. This review is spot on. If you’re looking for the easy midlength paddle and wave catch ability, the board is a must. Once up and going the board feels much shorter than a 6’9. A Quick, nimble, spicy board. I love that I can still turn rather easily even if my rear foot isn’t over the fins. It’s an easy to surf forgiving board. I felt up the 6’6 at the shop and felt it wasn’t quite a mid length or a shortboard. I’d go either 6’3 or below for shortboard, 6’9, 7’0 for mid length vibes. I’m guessing a 6’6 might be a good step up. Highly recommended. Fun!
@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
@ Thanks, Adam, for the great feedback🙏 it's an excellent board and I look forward to surfing it again soon. I have been riding 5’6” boards, so to me, it feels like a step up, verging on a midlength. But I think you're right. If you want a proper mid-length feel, going bigger is probably the way to go. I feel like you could have Revo quiver. Like you say it is super fun and so forgiving 😀🤙

Great review mate, fully agree with your comments about a really large “sweet spot” as I found the same thing. Noticed you had medium fins, I got mine from a surf shop so had time to compare large and medium. Only a few mms difference between them, not sure why they are so similar. Also with respect to your comment on foot placement in the barrel, notice when he is actually in the barrel both feet are well up the board (back foot well in front of the pad). Keep up the good videos 😜😜👍
@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
Thank you🙏 yes, it's pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to experimenting with foot positioning. Interesting, the fins are so close in size. Yeah, Tomo is using the whole board in those clips, pumping waves, I would like to try it in those conditions 🤙

* it’s expensive but I’ll always recommend the Sony a7siii as best ‘mirrorless’ camera that will do the job for the next 5-10 years. But y’all’s footage looks great and I see you doing slow mo, by chance is it a Canon m50? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it and may be worth finding same model or new versions Otherwise something like a Panasonic GH7 or Sony A6700 but again depending on current and lenses - some of the smaller new cameras overheat outdoors in 4K higher frame rates. I’ll await to see (I’m an impatient American lol)
