Another banga vid mate. Love the style you have on that board - I agree with the versatility of it. Def daily driver - like you said, the thinness of the board is insane. Like the in depth talk on how it surfs too. No longer having one in my possession, I’m quite sad and this video digs the knife in deeper. Some chunder in the water too and seems you just plowed through it. Look forward to getting my quiver up to your standard one day lol.

Great vid Mike (and your better half). Awesome conditions and I bet you were gliding in on those waves with the extra float. I’m very interested in the Revo max (have owned an OG Revo) but I have a Big Baron 6’8 38L so I think I’m kind of covered there for a while. Tomo is a genius though. The rest of my quiver are boards you are very familiar with….Evo/Seaside/Mashup/Spitfire/Hypto. I find I’m riding the Mashup as a quad most of the time. I do force myself to surf the other boards as you did with the Revo Max. Can’t wait for the next video guys. Thank you

Thanks, Ryan 🙏 I want to try some JS boards. They look so good! We have been riding some of the same boards; I haven't tried the Hypto yet. I love Tomo shapes, too. I have had the exact same experience on my 6'3" Revo Max. I come from a similar short board background. I am of a similar surfing ability. I have enjoyed the Revo Max more and more as the waves increase in size. I was initially struggling with foot placement, as I am not used to riding anything over 6'. I am still not surfing it as well backside as I would like. My 5'7" Album Twinsman is much more natural feeling to me, but does not catch California rollers as easily. Overall, it is a great board and I am happy to have it in my quiver. I do use it more as a step up than a groveler. Cheers!

2:40 - you nailed it here, a bit too much real estate out front for this to be a pivotty board in small\mid surf………. But I guess that’s why it’s a twin fin. Between your clips, Thomo’s and Travis Varga’s on this board, it’s looking like it’s more comfortable as a down the line carver board or a suckier wave board. I’d love to see you surfing it at Mundaca or somewhere more down the line. For mine, in every condition that I’ve seen clips of you surfing it in, I’d have taken out the Cado or Sweet Potato. Great surfing by the way, you still make ordinary waves look better than they should.
@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
Thank you 🙏Agreed that it is better for point breaks and doing carves; it is not a great fit for where I live. It's consistent, but the quality is not Great, especially when you're trying to avoid the crowds😂 did you see that footage of Mundaca? It was more crowded than the super bank; insane🤙
@JoelSimbrow24 күн бұрын
@@surfingtipsandtricks what did you mean by the quality not being great?
@surfingtipsandtricks24 күн бұрын
@@JoelSimbrow I live in the Algarve, and there are some quality waves if you are willing to surf the more crowded spots or go off-grid. But I'm not, so the waves I surf don't tend to be of excellent quality or shape. It's partly my fault. My parents lived here in the 90s when it was uncrowded, and I still used to drive around all day looking for waves; it's a great place to live, though. We tend to drive north for more accessible spots, especially in the winter🤙

Great video ! I found it was working quite well on those bumpy onshore waves..maybe not as much as some specific grovelers but I was searching for an allround board with the twin feeling that would be not too long (coming from performance shortboard), that I could take out in those days where it miss a bit of power, but turn still well and thatI could also take out on biggers days when my shortboard get too short...Until now I didn't found a board that meet so much of my request !

Thank You🙏It is an incredible board and is very versatile. I think it's a good all-rounder; I haven't surfed it since those sessions, but I crave to surf it again. It's fast, like all of Tomo boards, and great for carving turns🤙

Excellent review. You were ripping that board and thought it looked good on you, especially the carves. . I just tested the 6'0 version and although the height of the board was likely the right size for me, the width was too narrow. Oddly, the 6'0 and 6'3 have a difference in width of over 1". The board felt like a performance board but with too long of a nose. I am trying to get a hold of a 6'3 at the moment. I think the larger one should be better for me. It will feel more like a mid vs a overly elongated performance board. the 6'0 is only 18 7/8" wide. I think the 6'3 is 20" wide. Anyways, loved the video. Cheers bro
@surfingtipsandtricksАй бұрын
Thanks, Tomye🙏 I think that maybe I should have gone longer for like you say, a more Mid-length feeling; it feels a little like an oversized performance board for sure , but easier to surf. But it is a really fun board to ride and very different. I look forward to seeing you shred on it. I was just watching your Hypto Crypto review again. Ripping on that board🔥🤙

Interesting mate, thought the 6 ft would be perfect for you. Hopefully you can try one of the bigger options. The sizing is wild - the jump from each size is hefty. Can’t believe the board is even as thicc as it states cause under arm, feels thin.

Hey Kyle, how is it going? Getting some nice winter swell, I hope 🙏 It's hard to get used to that much nose-out front, even after surfing longer boards years ago. I'm unsure if you have had a Revo Max under your arm. The 6’3” feels like a blade with really low-profile rails, and it's hard to see the volume in it. I think the 6.0 must be really knifey, like you say, and Thomye says the same in the comments above and that it's an inch narrower than the 6’3”. Even though the 6’3 has 35.2L in it, I don't find it an insane paddler. The Seaside, I have,paddles as well at 33.6L. It depends on what waves you think you will surf on it. I can't see myself surfing it that much because I don't get that great quality waves. But you live in Hawaii🙏🤙🤙

@surfingtipsandtricks My brother! I wish I could send you some videos or some vertical straight up snap shots I’ve been getting on my New 6’0 Revo Max. I love the board!!! Even in hollow tube rides!!! Such a great board brother. I’m so happy with my purchase. A few days ago! A surf buddy of mines let me sample his 6’9 Revo Max, while I was surfing on my HIHP LONGBOARD. We swapped boards for an entire 0:01 session. Unbelievably 😊 the board went vertical coming off from long drawn out bottom turns in the pocket. And I’m talking I tried it on a dying swell weak gutless surf. The waves still had some form to it. But just weak!!! And surprisingly enough the board just skated across ice effortlessly. I kinda knew it would have done that! But not THAT GOOD! I was more surprised it RIPPED! Especially @ 46 Liters and a 6’9. Was soo good. I had to buy one!!! I’m glad I got to try! Before I had to buy! 🙏🏽 😅 The board kills on those small days 💯. Please! I highly recommend you try one if you can get your hands on one. It’s replacing my Machadocado

I'd suggest putting in some time on a Mal or a Log. It'll reacquaint your muscle memory with how to draw longer lines. Then, you'll be able to utilise that nice straight rail line to generate speed through parts of the turn where you are currently relying on the fins.

Hi Martin, I would say in the steep 3 feet the Machadocado, but I haven't surfed the Seaside that much yet, and I think that would be my choice in the 1-2 foot range. I surfed it as a twin in 1-3 foot glassy conditions (Too Fish Keels), and it was so fast and fun.🤙

Thanks for the great reviews. You are obviously a great surfer. I'm 53 (5'10 and about 73kg/160lb) and have been learning to surf in Bali for the last 3 years. I feel super confident popping up on my 6'6 Chilli Mid Strength with 2+1, but love turning my 5'10 Dumpster Diver. However I feel my wave count def down with the smaller board. Looking at RM to fill the sweet spot. I'm leaning to the 6'0. would you recommend this board for me, based on the above info? ...also you mentioned a session in bigger waves on your 6'3...is there a post?

Thanks, Joel🙏; I haven't seen the 6’0, but I think it's high-performance, 6’3 might be a better option. It depends on what you want. Yes, but they don't feel like the Revo Max; it feels like a step up, but it's really loose when you get your foot over the fins. When your back foot is forward, it feels so stable and has amazing hold. It's a really different shape. I guess its hard going from shorter boards to a mini midlength with your foot positioning which is weird really as back in the 90"s every one had a boards over 6Ft for their everyday board and went up to 6,8" and stuff for bigger surf , never had any issues ,shows how boards have changed are surfing over the years, now you lean forward or back raver than moving forward and back on the board .

Yes, I used to compete in small waves on a 6’4”, and I was skinny in the 80s and 90s 🤣. I have some old high-performance thrusters up to a 6’10”. I surfed the 6’10 “last winter; it still goes well. This board is a little different as the hard edge goes so far up the board, and it's very different to anything I have ridden. But it is incredible how much boards have changed.
