Thanks for the video Noel! Really appreciate the video's been watching for a couple years now, thanks to your advice I ordered a custom 5'9 Neckbeard, it's the best board I have ever owned. Unfortunately it is super fragile.. as I ordered it in the stock ultralight glassing. Would recommend anyone to order it glassed strong as you have to work a lot for speed in tiny waves.

all my spinetek groveler/small wave performance boards have foot pressures in the deck for that exact reason.. pushing hard in less energy to create speed its just something you have to live with for the performance they are giving you.

Noel, I have the UJ spinetek but unfortunately it is slightly oversized by 2L and I find that if I don’t have my front foot forward enough, the front half of board is chattery/bouncy and I can feel board bogging slowing down back half. I’m also using AM2 thrusters. Would putting in pivot rears help? Beach breaks mostly so small but fast semi closed out crappy surf typically. Looking for get up and go speed and less drag/heavy feeling over fins. Thanks!

Oversizing a board by 2L is a lot. Maybe sell that board and size it better
@FluffyAlpaca81
@FluffyAlpaca81 Жыл бұрын
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Thx for reply Noel and i was afraid you would say this lol. I have a libtech QK of similar volume as the UJ but without the issues. I suspect you are right though, the extra 2L in UJ is not good since its shorter and wider so all the foam is compacted into smaller overall space and I'm really feeling it. i am about 175lb with wetsuit. UJ @ 34. you think 31-32L would be much better?

I think it was really good it helped a lot with dimensions, but I wish you could elaborate more about the length of boards fitting the wave face. That’s what I found that when the rail line gets too long it’s just as in fit the way face anymore.
@wingman7nz
@wingman7nz 3 жыл бұрын
Britt did mention that at 6'6 tall he has to ride 6'0 - 6'4 boards to be able to surf in the pocket properly at head high Rincon.. thats prob the max length boards that fit in the pocket any longer just wont play ball
@woodywoodruff9835
@woodywoodruff9835 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I heard Brett say that but I wish she’d elaborate a little more next time you get a chance to talk to him. Especially he’s 66 talking about head high Rincon where I’m 56 and usually surfing a lot of 3 foot waves in Huntington. So would be great just to hear a great shaper like that elaborate further and how he would figure out the changes it in dimensions. It was definitely good to hear, just I wanted to hear a little more next time

@@surfnshowreviews7777 hi Noel can you do the two happy a review with one board not customed? But what be recommended for you by CI. It would then be closer what we would get for our height and weight as stock standard. And surf it medium fins instead of large. So you can still carve it. When we watch you rip it would closer to we would feel. This is just an idea not a criticism. I love your surfing and reviews Noel.

@@BrianNewport Sorry I’m not going to ride a stock 5’10” for the review. That’s way to long for me.... it would get a bad review purely from the length. The board will feel long and turn in slow motion. I would need to surf bigger waves (6’-8’) for it to go good and it would take forever for me to get the review done as we are coming into Summer time. I know that’s not relatable for you as you want to grab one of the rack but a stock 5’10” doesn’t work for me. I ordered a custom 5’7” and Custom 5’8”.

I have been surfing for 1year now with a 7"6 - 53LT cheap epoxy board. Now i really want to set up, and invest some money in a good surfboard preferably a litle smaller and bit more agile board so i can improve and start praticing small tricks like floaters and bottom turns turns etc. I dont want to ruin my surf progression so i'm not so sure what board type to get. I was wondering to drop to at least a 7" surfboard somewhere clsoe to that. Maybe bit smaller thant that. I dont want to over comit and then ruin my progression. What would you recomend? I've seen some interesting reviews about mid lenght surfboards but also seen some people claiming good results with a groveler...I weight 85kg and i'm 1,86m tall surfing 2days week
@surfnshowreviews7777
@surfnshowreviews7777 3 жыл бұрын
A Midlength might be a good place to start your way down... like 6’6” Midlength. Check out the CI mid or Seaside and Beyond. Another option is the Seaside.... it’s not a Midlength but you can buy it on the bigger side and enjoy sharper turns with a good amount of volume.

Man, I'd like to see how you surf and what your opinion is about the Channel Island Wave Hawg. I'm 5'11, 200 lbs, and 49 years old. I love it for it performance for it's shape and design. I started with an 8ft and was amazed how responsive it was. I had to sell it but now I came across a 7'2. I haven't really had a chance to ride it yet but the waters warming up and the swells building. So hopefully that's fixing to change. I can never find any videos of performance surfing on the Wave Hawg and I hope you'll consider it. It's been C.I. best seller for the last 10 years so they say. Thanks for the videos. They're probably the better I've seen, esp since I'm a 35yr vet surfer and can smell BS a mile away. 🤙😷🇺🇲

Reaffirms the fact that going to a local shaper and talking directly to said shaper about needs, dims etc is the gold standard. Bring a board or 2 along to go over what you like and dislike about each of those current boards to guide the shaper & dial in the new one. There is no substitute for this. Plenty of highly competent, if not world class shapers in most areas to do this, and if none - find one you can at least talk to on the phone to dial it in.
