If you grip your lines crossed before throwing your surgeons knot your hands wont do that awkward cross as you go to seat the knot... just a heads up

When is this technique used during surgery...i see that a lot of suture material is loose and would have to be cut...and that's not convenient, is it?

Great question - you're right there is a lot of suture waste. It's for tying in in deep holes where it's hard to instrument tie or if you need a bit more tactile feedback/control of your knots. If you're suturing skin or subcutaneous, I instrument tie so save suture

No, as long as your knot is square and lies flat when you tighten it (see 0:40). Depending on which way you throw your knots, you’ll have to twist your hands differently to make the knot square.

Yeah it looks more scenographic than actually practical, not just for that but also because surgeons almost always go for 1-handed knots anyway. Never seen a surgeon cross their hands for this, in fact they very rarely cross them for any reason whatsoever

@@artemkravchuk1005you just cross the suture but not the hands, one hand it’s called the anchor the otherone makes the move inside or outside knot, but one hand stays steady so the knot doesn’t loosens
