Surplus condition Yugo capture K98 from classic firearms

I just took it all apart and cleaned up everything. I was able to clean the bore and after getting the old oil and dust out of the way there is some rust down the bore. I’m satisfied with everything else but I do think these rifles should have at least a patch or two ran though the bores and have them inspected before being sold. If it shoots good I’ll still be satisfied.

I went to a gun show today and picked up one of the Yugo Kar98K's and the stock is in good shape too but is the original Kar98K stock with the metal disc and the cup butt plate. and the stock is full of German stamps and matches the receiver.

If your wanting to get into surplus firearms, go ahead and get a curio and relics ffl license, it’s only a $30 fee with the atf, and once you get it you can have the guns shipped to your door, instead of a dealer..

Very nice! Looks like a late war model stock, with an older buttplate on it! I have one exactly like that, I’m super excited to shoot it!

If you haven’t found any marking yet I found 5 on mine they were on the very top of the front sight just above the barrel and on the bayonet holder and 3 around the rear sight stamped with eagle 37

A follow up video showing what it looks like after being cleaned up would be nice. Love these, I have 5 or 6 of them and one of the long versions. The Frontier 45 Metal Cleaner in the link below is the best thing I have found for cleaning up metal finishes on firearms without removing whatever finish is left. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RM692X8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can even use it for cleaning dirty bores. Your stock is not a German stock, but a replacement stock made by they Yugoslavians. You can tell because there is no take down disk in the stock. Looks to be elm wood.

Best I could manage from a rest shooting Ethiopian surplus Ammo from the 50s was approx 5-8 inch group. Quite a few flyers as well. Haven’t shot new production Ammo yet.
