There is quite a bit of gold in Canada, but much of it was affected by glaciers which narrows the opportunities for hand mining. As such, some of the best places are abandoned machine operations and find what they lost. I have never been to Australia, but it is on my bucket list.

Hi Your blue green rock you tossed is malachite you called it something else and it appears to be weathered to a possible turquoise quality stone and amazingly you threw it away. Yes it is copper but where did it originate from in that area? Also it’s fun to hunt silver because it’s available in your East area but copper is way more valuable than silver because it’s value is based on a percentage per ton not a dozen nickels per gram. A 10% copper assay is over $500 per ton and malachite material like that could be 20-40% copper oxide and that me miner is serious money if the deposit is an undiscovered showing.

You Miner, I am ecstatic when standing in the middle of a rock pile, especially with a good looking, intelligent guide such as yourself to educate me.. : l Uh oh hope the squatchy gal doesn't get jealous about my comment. : ) Give her my regards please and tell her how lovely you think all her hair looks. That ought to do it. Seriously though, you picked up a chunk of red jasper and threw it back down. Valentines Day is right around the corner and you may want a red, pink or purple rock to transform into beautiful art for the gals in your family. Think about it. OkeeDokee? Nice claim you have up there in the far North.

I would like to hit a rock pile after a rain to see the colours and then ship a box home to play with. Next time...

I might have taken that rock with the jasper on it, just to slice through it to see how it formed should be able to see it pretty well then

I'm old and set in my ways. It's Kirkland coffee or nothing. Don't pick me.

I figured that this road trip was to BC where you caught up with Paul, but came to check out your claim, you acquired a while ago.

We flew and rented cars in both stopovers. It was a somewhat quick trip to see what is what, especially access and gear. Met up with Pauly in Victoria and then continued ourselves onto Whitehorse. I learned that the roads into the claims on the Island had two locked gates and I only had access this time to one of the keys. I also have claims in Atlin and checked them out while there. I am now ready to go back to do some serious prospecting.
