April 17 2023, 4:11 am - Mom was asleep incubating the two eggs in our White Rock bald eagle cam nest in British Columbia; sunrise was two hours away when an adult landed on the nest, startling Mom awake, and stayed there for over an hour, finally flying off at 5:33 am. This 10-minute video shows some of the interactions between the two. The visitor is not bigger - he looks larger at first but that's because he's closer to the cam; around 5 minutes into the video, Mom gets up for a stretch and moves to the rail so you can compare size more easily. My impression is that Mom was at least a bit larger than the other eagle - and that makes sense because I really can't imagine any female allowing a full adult female this close to her nest. So the question is - is this Dad or a wandering male? Happily both adults are taking turns incubating as of April 18, and all's well that ends well. You can watch them live at hancockwildlif... ~JudyB
