This was the first house I felt they got completely wrong. A house full of rough and tumble boys and the designer thought a WHITE sofa, really white walls and a white kitchen would be a good way to go. Kids don't mesh well with white. George (maybe distracted by the new baby), didn't connect the dots here, but...the designer was so wrong. She was too young for the job really; a perky little girl who didn't get the whole mother earth women thang with busy kids - boys. The designer decorated it for her, not for this family. Even the moms immediately knew that was going to be a problem. No words on those horrendous tiles in the kitchen and the cutesy little open shelves over the stove will just have grease on them. I was really disappointed that the designer didn't save the height chart and keep it for the kitchen - again, she's not a mom. Growth charts are so important to moms. Memories.

OMG! Another WHITE sofa in a house that has three young boys!!! With the color scheme a grey sofa in a durable. cleanable color would have been a good choice. What are these designers thinking? On the plus side, these guys are awesome ! They probably saved not only their home from a fire but their lives also by addressing the electric issues. Fantastic job !!! The kitchen is a dream... just perfect! I couldn't see if the trim that had the boys heights as they are growing was saved???

@raeperonneau49414 жыл бұрын
Interestingly, white is not only washable but bleachable. Lol. White is easily cleaned. Brown, however, isn’t. You’ve always got to remember that dark colors show dirt and dust while light ones don’t. Sometimes design is counterintuitive.
@shawnsisler37434 жыл бұрын
@@raeperonneau4941 I have to disagree, ever take an arm off of a couch to bleach it. I raised 8 boys and their father... lol My first brand new furniture was off white with pastel wide plaid, it took less than a year for them to destroy it, and it was Scotch Guard treated. SMH White cabinets?? That's a joke, you really can scrub the paint off of them, quite literally. This goes for white appliances too. The only things left that are white in my home are the tub and sink... I gave up and all of mine are grown now, still can't keep the man monsters from leaving nasty fingerprints and such everywhere. I will watch them wash their hands and still find grease monkey fingerprints on the cabinets... what is that???
@hilaryc32034 жыл бұрын
@@raeperonneau4941White furniture and kids? Never. White is not a natural colour and so bleach will destroy the white. White furniture will show spilled drinks and food, crayon marks, shoe scuffs, and yes, dirt. Those are rough and tumble boys; moms will be replacing that sofa in no time.
@raeperonneau49414 жыл бұрын
Hilary C I’ve had white furniture for 20 years. Lol. I bleach all of the furniture slip covers at least once a week and wipe down every surface with bleach regularly and my house always looks pristine with very little effort. People have spilled red wine, coffee, food and juice on everything and I just throw it in the laundry. As someone in the design business, I wouldn’t have said it if I hadn’t lived with it. ;-)

The comments about the design and the designer are very harsh. we have no way of knowing what input was given by the owners prior to the design. They may have requested white couches etc. We also don't know that there isn't a den or other room somewhere in the house that the boys normally play in. The important thing is is that the homeowners absolutely loved it and it was a beautiful design.
@JonesStreetMusic4 жыл бұрын
Am I the only person who noticed that the handle of the old fridge had the kids' heights marked on it over time? And they didn't save & reproduce those measurements? :O And yeah, the kids should feel comfortable in their own home too. White couch... nope.

Hopefully the couch cover is washable. I chose a couch that was dive-able when my kids were young/teens as that's how they sat on the couch! Built-in shelves are cheaper than buying glass carts, especially when you have a builder onsite. What happened to the growth chart? That's an important part of the family history and should have been included. There was nothing for the boys in this renovation apart from the 3 stools in the kitchen. Disappointed in the living room, great kitchen.

What I see for that white couch...either it will be replaced in no time or it will be hidden under a couch covering. Anyone with 1/2 a brain would know to NEVER put a white couch in a home with children...I believe the designer forgot that this space wasn't what she likes but what would look just as nice for the moms but still be functional for the whole family. And knowing the fact that this family loves color I was expecting more than just the bland bleh colors this designer chose. Also they said they didn't want the family to loose the memories that they have built together, but am I the only one who noticed that the door frame growth chart of the kids isn't apart of the final product?
