SURPRISED by a PHILIPPINES MILITARY BASE in CAPIZ (Becoming Filipino)

Well, we expected to drive on some rural roads from Iloilo to Capiz and then Aklan... but we didn't expect to end up at a Philippines military base. In fact, it was a wonderful barangay community in Jamindan!
But this journey started for us in Iloilo City, where we enjoy a coffee at my favorite place to have one in the city... Madge Cafe. Although the La Paz market is still under reconstruction/renovation, the vibe is still wonderful. From there, we head off exploring Iloilo Province as we make our way towards Capiz. Along the way I find a bowl of mountain batchoy, and then we end up looking for a waterfall...
WHICH LEAD US TO A MILITARY BASE!
What a surprise that was. All was good as we make our way along the "Road to Forever" and end up in Batan Aklan. A beautiful motor day on Panay Island!

Kulas, thanks for featuring my home provinces, Aklan and Capiz! I was born in that barangay , Man-up, Batan, Aklan but later our family transferred to our mother's place in Capiz. I studied in Manila and every time I went home for the summer vacation, we traveled by ship and disembarked there in Batan port.I remember the beauty of the shore lined by countless numbers of coconut trees. Your video brought back a lot of pleasant childhood and teenage memories!

Base of the 3rd Infantry Division. In the Philippines, an infantry division usually consists of 3 brigades and several batallions. The commander of a division is a MGen while a brigade is a BGen and a batallion is headed by a Col.

BATAN is one of the oldest settlements in Aklan. That church is actually Old. Been there during 1990s when Dumaguit Port is still a Busy Seaport. Stayed there during the Summer of 1997 for 2 weeks and it is so unforgettable memory as a child. That place is actually amongst TOP 5 most populated Towns of Aklan during 90s. A thriving Municipality back then. Today, Batan is like a dusky humble town where the time stopped. However still BATAN is still beautiful despite of its hiatus of economic progress.

Correction pls! The old church of Batan was demolished. Just sad though, the Spanish vibe is gone. It’s a modern church. The last time I saw it was in 2017 and it had a Santorini vibe because of the white and sky blue color…

The lady is working on the eatery on making hot chocolate or sikwati or coffee for nearly 3 decades already ☕☕🍫 And in the hill there was a batchoyan before they took it out because of the pandemic 🍲 And Kumander said that you are a rice guy because you always eat rice bwahahahahahaha 🍚 And you had bathcoy on the eatery 🍲🍽🍴🥄 And they had a banana leaf marker in Cabatuan because they had a banana leaf festival I think 🍌🌱 And in Iloilo that is were my great-grandma was born and died in March 2022. And some of the roads on inner areas like suok-x2 nga lugar in Bisaya are not concreated and they are concreating it 🛣 And you went on a different way and Kumander is on the other side of the road. And they had a salt water pool on the resort 🏊
