I love this trick, have been performing it for over 40 years, in that time I have had so much fun with it, I have added a couple of subtleties to help sell it more and to misdirect those that watch very closely.

Cool. When I do this effect I like to glide their card and use it(the next card) as a pointer card , then replace it back on the face of the deck without them seeing it the proceed as you did. I believe this to give a stronger effect of look I took your card off of the bottom and am even using it as a pointer card. Either way works fine good work as always.

This was the first card trick I learned after reading RRTGM chapter 4 back in 1960. I've used this trick with great success to all kinds of audiences. By the way Royal Road has some great tricks between it's covers!

I've always thought the glide as it's explained in royal road is so awkward, love your handling of it here! It seems like there might be a way to improve this trick by doing everything on the top of the deck instead of the bottom with some clever second d's.

A learned a slightly different version of this trick from Scam School. Even though it’s a simple trick, it’s always been one of my favorites, mainly because the patter can be very fun and allows me to razz the audience member when I say they didn’t cut to their card

Great trick, especially since it takes advantage of your previous video! Do you think the effect would be stronger or weaker (or equivalent) if instead of directly revealing the selected card, we would instead: 1. put the card face down 2. lay the n-1 cards and the rest of the deck face up and ask to confirm that the selection is not there 3. turn over the original three cards and ask for the same confirmation 4. finally reveal that the nth card was the selection

So instead of dealing cards from the bottom, I do a quick shuffle maintaining the bottom card and dealing normally until the number, I would just bottom deal that number
@taylorhaws64023 жыл бұрын
In this instance, second dealing would be better. It would allow you to fairly and slowly deal the final card, which is the one that matters most as it's the card the spectator is paying the most attention to.
@kiokuprojects17783 жыл бұрын
@@taylorhaws6402 I still show off the cards at the bottom and take those cards from the bottom, I'm just strictly talking about counting the cards

Hey brother, I do this trick myself I call it ” Poker Face " I tell the spectator that it's my job to try to find your card, I take their card and cut it to the bottom of the deck. I tell the spectators to cut to 3 different piles to see if you can cut to your card after you cut the 3 piles I'll show you what you cut too. the part that I tell them to answer " yes, that's my card " no matter what the card is you answer " yes, that's my card even if it's not your card you still answer " yes, that's my card. " If it is your card you try to keep a poker face its up to me to find your card. I want to hear your tone of your voice like voice DNA. I show all 3 cards and ask her name the card and they answer " yes, that's my card " when you show the last card I do the glide also. Then I tell them since you didn't cut to your card I need you to pick a number between 1 & 10 what ever number you pick that's how many cards I'm going to count and at that number it will be your card. When I get to there card I ask what was your card when they tell me I act surprised and look at the cards that are on the table face down and ask are you sure as they say that I answer OK just wanted to be sure turn the card over and show them their card. At that point they will turn over the card on the table they eill swear that they saw you put it on the table.
@jeffwilliams47533 жыл бұрын
That's a nice one man! Could possibly use a false shuffle/cut before you split in 3, just to prove its more lost in my opinion but definitely good for a bar and you got a tough audience 👌🏻
@tiggert40023 жыл бұрын
I saw a version of this from Brian Brushwood. The way he does the glide though feels a bit more awkward for me. This version feels a but more natural.

Asad this may not be related to the video but I need your help. How can I be good at the classic pass with small hands? I just can't get my hand to cover the top packet. for some reason i can't to the pass when I have my hand on the right side of the packet where it needs to cover, so I can only cover it on the left, leaving the packet exposed. I also can't do it fast enough. people tell me to just do the herman pass (which I can only do the turnover variation of) but I want to learn the classic pass because i think it looks much better and is a better move. Pls help!!

For the setup I think it's better to say - going to show you some cards that definitely aren't yours, better reinforcing that you have no idea which card they selected. Needs a false shuffle before the cards are cut.

Can any serious card guy/gal answer this...with mechanic's grip do you HAVE to hold a deck in your left hand and use your right hand to deal? Everywhere I read/watch it's always instructed to hold a deck in your left hand, but I am much more comfortable/dexterous with my right hand and I assume most sleights/business is done with the decked hand (in most cases)...Thanks!
