Unpopular opinion(hear me out): this comment is rooted in self-hatred and internalized racism. As a black man, it’s impossible for people to admit that they hate Black Men’s hair. You can only have crisp dreads, or a small few high maintenance hairstyles. Even other hairstyles when well maintained makes you be perceived much less seriously or undesirable. Dreads are seen as “hard” and it helps you be perceived as masculine. Afros are perceived as nerdy somehow and it’s funny how some people, EVEN OUR OWN are so against admitting it.
