its called growing up in scandinavia with long winters and a lot of spare time.. Our culture in Sweden, and Norway, Denmark focuses on learning skills, and also on how to be self-reliable, and in some parts of sweden and norway historically other cities where far away so you had to learn to do and fix alot by yourself, and to be resourcefull with the resources we had (which is true everywhere, but in particularly in scandinavia with its long distances - one thing we do have is alot of natural recourses though like metal, timber etc. so that made us excel in engineering and metalurgy) .. Perhaps some of that is passed on to next generation of ipad-watchers we will see if coming generations will be as handy.. But part of Swedish culture is to do it yourself, and the dad will teach the son how to renovate the house alot of the times, I am sure it is similar in Norway - so some part of self reliance is stoll going strong.. /Andreas, Sweden

Same in Germany. lol But the upside of brick and stone houses is that we can install overhead lighting ourselves and don't pay an electrician for it (I assume it's because in Scandinavian countries most houses are wood houses and there is more of a fire hazard).

It's a shotgun mic. The whole "trowel" is the mic. The length makes it super-directional which is why it sounds so meaty when she speaks directly into it. Something like this: www.amazon.com/Microphone-Veksun-Interview-Panasonic-Windscreen/dp/B07WND4DB4/ref=sr_1_26

@Dragonited4 жыл бұрын
Det ser riktigt flott ut :D Would however like to suggest something about the window you put into the wall. You should have made the opening a bit bigger on top so that you could have placed a header above it and supporting it on the sides with 2x4 to distribute the load from above. If that was on the top floor it might not be as important but considering the diagonal stud that was in the wall was there for a reason there should be some extra structural support to replace that afterwards. It was also hard to see in the video if you used some sort of waterproofing tape under the window. Even if you caulk the window there will always be a risk of water getting in behind it and it's important to stop it from getting inside the wall cavity and can seep out to the outside of the wall might rot. The wood under the window should also have a slight slope outwards to aid any water to run towards the outside.
@MommyOfZoeAndLiam4 жыл бұрын
Martin Jonsson what was with the diagonal stud? I actually was wondering if it had come loose and fallen that way.
@Dragonited4 жыл бұрын
@@MommyOfZoeAndLiam It's there to prevent racking in very strong winds. It's more common in barns where they do not have inside walls to sturdy up the wall. It's the same principle in free standing shelves that have a diagonal slat on the backside. Greenhouses have the same thing att the corners.
@Shalow784 жыл бұрын
There is indeed a possible problem with roof support as i didnt see any support beams and headers going in and a window frame isnt meant to be used as a support structure like that,

Just some advice. I hate direct lighting for most situations. It is annoying in a home office. I have to replace them, but the LED strip lighting you use on some of your builds makes a great perimeter lighting system. I used white plastic J-channel (for vinyl siding) around the edges of my ceiling to hold the strips. I covered the flange of the J-channel with a piece of baseboard. Since you did a drop ceiling, you can slide that flange up under the L-track to pinch it between the wall and the track. That white J-channel softens and disperses the lighting to give you a perimeter light that lights up the space without a huge glare anywhere in the room.
