I think she might of used iPhoto as I've ordered a photo book through it before and mine looked pretty similar in the picture layout/book quality as hers! You can create and order hardcover books/calendars/cards etc by going to Projects in iPhoto and then you can choose which photos from your library you want and can fully customize it with different layouts and colors etc then its delivered in a week or so :)
