During the 70s and 80s I shopped at the German flea markets. I went threw faces where I collected things as a teenager. Tins, pewter things, old linens etc. As they priced out of my range I changed things up. I worked babysitting jobs and military summerhire jobs. Shopped downtown on the economy too. In 86 I got to go shopping in East Berlin before the wall came down too.😊

I bet that was a fascinating time to shop! I'm sure things were more available at first, especially after the wall fell

I was the queen of upc's. I sent them in for everything. I didn't smoke but got Marlboro coupons and would trade them to the GI's for the upc's. I got a cool Jean shirt and a gold zipper lighter. Cartons were only 4 dollars and coupons were for 2 off. Great deal in the commissary but they were rationed. I saved kool-aid and rage upc's and got dishes and barbies etc. Got scottie dogs too and little Debbie dolls. So much fun. Still have most of them.

George, First of all, I love your informative videos and array of antique items you choose to discuss. Thank you for sharing your detailed and vast knowledge. I always learn something new from your videos. I hope you purchased the $25 Hull planter. The pattern is called Crabapple and the price guide Hull pottery books I've seen, does not show a value for the crabapple pattern. The vases are very hard to find in that pattern, never seen a hanging planter in the Crabapple design. If I didn't live in South GA and have work tomorrow, I'd be in the car heading to Nebraska to grab that planter. I hope you bought it!

Good evening, George. There was a clear pitcher, just off the screen, close to the Lennox vase that caught my eye...me and my beverage sets 😂 Loved the mineral case! For me, I prefer them in their natural state. The mantlepiece ewer really caught my attention. That was a pretty one. The Merrick's display case was fantastic! I really like anything to do with antique sewing items. I'd like to have that "Quick Meal Change" tray, with the chicks on it. It's small enough I could find a place to put it 😁 Loved the Mission wall clock! I had a floor Mission clock, but had to sell it when I moved here. The local clock repair shop has one he would sell, if I could only find a place to hang it. That stained glass arch was spectacular! There was a banquet lamp against the wall there that caught my eye, too. There was an assassin's dagger there I liked. Lalique glass is spectacular. Those pieces were beautiful the way the light played in them. Aaarg! That barrister's bookcase! Geez, there was so much in all of those places that caught my eye! It would've taken me all day to go through all of those shops. Thanks for taking us along!
@TheAntiqueNomadАй бұрын
I'm not surprised you saw a lot you liked, this town really has good antiques and vintage! I prefer the minerals in their natural state (although I like cracked geodes so you can see). The Merrick's case was very special, I'm not a sewing person at all and yet I find things related to sewing rather intriguing (perhaps because I can't do it). The floor Mission clocks are a favorite of mine, they gave them out in Seattle back in the 1910s to whoever sold the most papers on their route each year. The great stuff in that one shop...Lalique, Wedgwood, the stained glass arch...I wish I'd had more room and more time!

The painting of the mountains is indeed the German alps. It is by Herrmann Schmitzbonn (1903 - 1960). He did paint the Bavarian alps around Garmisch-Partenkirchen so it might be the Zugspitze.

I find leaving your trash behind is extremely Rude. I feel very strongly about things like that ( especially Gum ), you might get tired of it, but I don't want it on my shoes or anywhere else either. I find it funny ( yet frustrating ) when people I know badmouth about litterbugs, but yet I find them doing the same. I used to be quiet about it back in the 70s an just silently pick it up, then I started getting mad about it. Now I guess I'm just getting old & mouthy. Oop's there I go again ! :~)

If you look at the bottom of ceramic dishware Figurines etc and the bottom has no wear or is clean and white it is not an antique it is a knock off re production.
