I discovered Ascension Presents during my sophomore year of college. It was a rough time for me because I got rejected by a girl. I didn’t mind it so much, but when she stopped being my friend, it really hurt. The following semester, my entire friend group shattered and none of them stuck with me. I felt pretty alone for a while, and the pandemic definitely didn’t help. It’s been a rough few years, but the most important thing in my life remains. I think I owe my strong faith to this channel a little. Whenever I feel like I’m the only one who knows God and His truths, I come here and remind myself there are others like me. That's right. When our Lord asks us to surrender he even meant our past and our future. Not just the present. This is so comforting. Our Lord is truly a loving, merciful, patient, Glorified God. Never live in the past or get stuck in the past or stay there because it’s a trap the old enemy the devil loves to use to attack your mind so that you can lose your mental sanity and go crazy, always live in the now and present and be grateful that you are still here and if you need to look back at your past do so kindly to see how far you have come and just continue to move on forward with your life don’t beat yourself up negatively for all the lost or missed opportunities that you allowed to pass you by, look forward to the future and trust with out a shadow of a doubt that your future is in God ‘s hands. “ Have an upcoming Happy New year 2022!” On Saturday of course , take care thanks Father Mike and Ascension team for making this video possible. Thanks this is much needed. I have returned recently back to the fold after going astray for awhile. Best thing done in 2021. Confession after 10 years was a challenge but such a relief. I know that Jesus has forgiven me even when found it hard to forgive myself. Your podcast is realistic and relatable because you talk Fr Schmitz in such a humble manner. As you say Jesus might not take it away straightaway but he has dominion over our lives. So I offer up my wounds and sins to him as a wretched sinner who wants to have a closer relationship with God. Pray that I will not let him down again and learn to put him first. Amen. 🙏

Read my comment in this thread. You have done very well to grasp it. I was a lost sheep and never knew that we were meant to put God and Jesus first in our lives. I was going down a treacherous path naive about what was really happening on a spiritual level. I repented and returned to the fold last year. Thank God. As someone who lives with mental illness, I find it so hard to surrender to Him especially since my battle of sins is in “moral flux”-objectivity vs subjectivity in determining what my culpability is in sin is what I need to surrender to.

I needed to hear this message. I really struggled over the holidays with realizing some things, some deeply painful situations in my life, are truly out of my control. I can not change others, I can only change myself. No matter how much I love them, I need to accept that I can’t take responsibility for what’s not mine. I had surrendered the situation to God before, but I realize there’s more to surrender. There are levels to this surrender. I am in a lot of grief and pain, but I know He will hold me through it.

You don’t surrender your future completely you honor the learning you’re here to do that. God wants this for you. God wants us to move forward always just like babies when they arrive. All they do is learn and take everything in and pull it towards them. Yes we trust in God and and in that sense, we surrender, but we set our intentions in that context and we always keep moving forward and learning the freedom that we will find and the love is God.
