The ferro rod has lanyard holes on both ends , for swapping ends. When you belly it out one way. You can swap it around.

There are a few things I have learned to splurg on when it comes to gear - footwear (boots & socks), saws, and a compass. I will be really curious to see how the saw & compass hold up once you start using them. Based on experience, I do not think a mylar blanket will hold up to being any kind of mattress. Once ripped or torn, the plastic just shreds itself to nothing. But, if you have a method to make it work, I'll be really interested to see it in action.

I’ve bought several things from Temu, So far the quality has been exceptional for the price. Most I wouldn’t hesitate to depend upon for 72 hour bag or maybe even a couple of months (not really hard use) but for the price it definitely beats not having the items.And yes I hate supporting China (not all the items come from there) but if they got what I need in order to fight against them so be it !

I bought a few backpack belt packs just to see how they do for some quick access pouches. They seem alright so far. I also bought an IFAK PACK, I also ordered an IFAK pack from Amazon and really impressed with both. Seem to be built pretty well. I also swear they are from the same manufacturer even coming from to different places

Magnifying lense. Dollar 25 store has plastic Fresnel lenses. Cut to size use char cloth or punk wood and you have an ember. It works.

Saw a couple comments suggesting a bic lighter and some gloves (leather is better), I was thinking these as well. Just clip the gloves to the outside of the bag and the bic can fit literally anywhere. If this is for an emergency situation tho, I would want a "booboo kit" at minimum. (bandaids, motrin, antiseptic cream, butterflies, nail clippers are super helpful, large needle for repairs using para cord guts (wrap cardboard around it and duct tape). Wrap the bic with duct tape. You mentioned taping the emergency blankets together, but had no tape. I love the plastic bottle with the pouch, may pick up one of those! Overall good vid! Curious how the stuff holds up!

Always get two ferro rods. One to pack and one to test. Once you scrape one, it begins to oxidize. Especially if you put it away. It seems like if it gets carried which means getting touched, it won't corrode so much.

Good video & to the point. I am curious as to whether your Para cord does have 7 strands inside- I have found some at WallyWorld with an outer sheath with just a fluffy core! I am also interested in the SAK knockoffs as to the knife and saw blades and whether the body of the knife will hold up to a little use as for cutting notches in small branches for constructing L 7 trap triggers- Of course the same goes for the full tang Sheath knife and folding saw. Light work for three days is useful but Your Testing while Teaching will give You and then YOUR VIEWERS SOME VERY USEFUL DATA! Be careful as SURVIVAL WHILE DRIVING IS a matter for YOUR FULL ATTENTION ! Looking forward to your experiences as you try out these tools for us!

Definitely going to test gear from Temu. I build 4 types of kits for personal contacts ranging from PSK’s to get-home bags & BOB’s all the way up to 7-10 day home emergency kits. Pricing is always a challenge. Am I willing to put that piece of junk “SAK” into a kit? No. Absolutely not. It won’t last a week in the bush. But for less technically intricate mechanics like cups, bottles & ferro rods ? Every dollar I can shave off that stuff is a dollar that can be applied to the “stars” of the show. Your kit selections make sense & mirror my overall philosophy. Areas of concern? The saw. Definitely the folder knife. I’m betting those stakes are too brittle or too spongy and the headlamp makes me nervous. But with careful gear selection a blend of Temu bags, tarps & cookware counterbalanced by tools from reputable companies purchased through Amazon could be a real winner. Thank you for the video. I don't mind d2 on a pocket knife, but it isn't good for a fixed blade. Especially if you're planning on using it as a survival knife. D2 chips really easy and isn't good for hard use. You're much better off going with 1095. Rather than D2.

It's listed as D2. I've never used a D2 knife so I'm curious to see how it holds up.

D2 will need greater care against rust. It will hold its edge longer than 9cr19mov but will also be a little more brittle. Lots of people complain about poor heat treatment on d2. That knife looks pretty good though. D2 should get razor sharp.

There's certain pieces of gear that can work from Temu and others that I wouldn't trust. Medical gear is one I wouldn't trust from a Temu seller. There are some pieces like Israeli bandages or the like, but things like TQs I wouldn't trust. Just my opinion.

Props to you for having a kit youre now more prepared than about 90% of the population. Now Im going to speak from my own opinion keep in mind I have a lot of knowledge and not alot of personal experience. But here is my opinion. You paid too much for that kit. Your most expensive item should have been your knife. this was meant to be a 72 hours survival kit and some of the items just don't make a lot of sense. Please take this opinion with a grain of salt. A Bic lighter is a quick inexpensive fire starter you don't have one in the kit but you went the extra mile to get not one but two methods of Solar ignition. The 2 liter jug and when your Metal one for boiling water is only a one liter. Yes its water storage but its also weight the body needs 1 liter a day. If you're going to carry that weight just add some water to your kit and use a smaller canteen. You mention about those tent stakes and said you had extra just in case you need to use them as tinder and that brings me back to fire, you don't have any tinder why not add a couple pinches of Dryer lint to the kit in a zip lock bag or some cotton balls with vaseline? Set yourself up for success zero effort fire why use a striker that's an emergency have no fire items tool ?? Its Survival not camping , Survive. Get a commercial tinder even. Don't rely on the mylars for a browse bag just add a simple 3 ply Trash bag to your kit. Cordage is worth its weight in a situation But I would move away from paracord especially if its the cheap kind and not actual Military 550 and go for maybe actual 550 or bank line. That saw looks like a UST Saw. I have their Survival Tarp its got loop holes and reflective interior so no need to use mylar sheets and its bright orange but everything else UST is pretty poor in quality better than OzarkTrail gear but still Go with a Bahco Laplander instead. You could have gotten alot better items for the money you spent in my opinion my Tarp was only 15$ and has the Mylar aluminum built into it its UST but Ive used it its quality for the money. Mora knife is more trusted for camping and is around 10 or more theyve gone up some but you can still find them. Its a bigger kit but its lower quality and most of the items wouldn't really do you much good for a 72 hour kit. You should try to condense the kit down as its not practical its quite bulky and you would be less likely to carry it. Most of these items can fit into a smaller more practical kit. You dont have anything in there for fishing either but why not add an energy inexpensive ready to go Power bar and a fishing kit? Ueasy Lensatic Compass is like 25$ and the'yre used by hikers not sure what you have there but with compasses 2 is one and one is none Cross reference it before you trust your life to it. I noticed also there's not first aid its not a must but its meant to help you survive why not include that. Lastly. Its a bit concerning youre teaching classes while building kits this way. Don't take that as an insult but if you're teaching you should have been past choosing items such as this by now and setting an example of its your Life on the line Dont buy the cheapest rope to trust your life to. I mean yeah they're items to show if you happen to have this or something like it sure but choosing this kit as an actual Survival kit and not a camping gear kit is concerning. You should have alot more experience with these items to have known about their inclusion in your kit for you to be teaching this. Please dont take that the wrong way but the things you teach are someone else's actual Survival Kit try to remember that. They'll look back at YOUR Training and instruction and gear you used and base life changing decisions on it so my advice is know what you're doing and about the gear extensively before trying to teach anyone as an Instructor.

In the 2months it takes to get here you could have bought gear that while is generic has a reputation for working when its needed here in the US or simply bought a better known better quality item for your kit? You said I have no idea what context such a pack might be for but yes I do actually he discloses its a 72 Survival Kit. That is the context. Its a kit meant to help you survive for 3 days. The items in that bag indicate exactly what its uses are for. Everything I said about that kit makes 100% sense to have said because the goal is Survival. Why would leave yourself scrambling to get a fire going with a ferro rod or screwing around with concentrating the suns rays for a fire when you in a Situation that requires the most practical and effortless means of survival to get you through when you could just simply include an item that is instant fire in the flick of a thumb and weighs little to nothing and is very small and can be dropped in water. Why risk improvising a bed with a light easy rip mylar blanket as a browse bag when it will destroy the blanket at the first rip and be full of holes poked in it from the browse bed materials when you can save the blankets as a heat reflector and use a very cheap 3 ply trash bag that has many uses beyond just a bed and will work far better for a browse bed purpose than your only option for reflecting heat back to your body? Why have two shemaghs both of the same color of the trees and the ground when youre wanting to keep them to use as signaling options over some bright light bandannas? Why have a two liter plastic Container of water when you can just add water bottles to the kit so that you dont have to go looking for water to boil it if having a bulky bag is no issue why not have 3 1 liter bottles of water in the kit? This keeps them separate to allow them to be added or removed from the kit for weight or cooking and then you can reuse them to collect the water and boil that water with the metal 1 liter container? And even improvise a water filter to hang then boil that collected water with the metal? SODIS as well... If the goal is 72 hours you have enough water for 1 human for 3 full days to allow full bodily function and if more is needed you have the means to collect it and disinfect it. Why not include power bars for fast light weight energy ? Think about it. A lighter in a bag with a bandanna bright colored 3 1 liters his metal container and some power bars along with his ferro rod and solar ignition a mora knife. Shemaghs if he wants them mylar blankets but why not add a tarp? 1 3ply garbage bag Some good 550 or even his cordage here and he would be good to go for three days solid with just the water bottles and power bars and a lighter... You could get all of these items in the US pretty quality with a decent carry bag for less than 100 dollars easily. Thats why I said all that I did. In my opinion he spent way too much because all of these items took a long time to get to him and they are questionable in quality. If you read this comment and are still upset about my comment than you do not understand constructive Criticism.

Meaning hes imparting this information to others who have likely paid him for instruction and he stated he intended to use that kit. This kits design and choice of where he bought it for the money that he bought it for reflect directly on his knowledge of Survival and Bushcraft. My personal opinion is if you are teaching others LEAD BY EXAMPLE. Try not to teach Buy Once Die Once and go a bit more with Buy once Cry once because you are setting an example. Think "You should train how you fight". My personal opinion is if youre creating kits like this youre not very experienced and you shouldnt be teaching others how to survive. You should not be including extra tent stakes to use as Tinder because you simply didnt have tinder in your kit. You shouldnt have redundacy for a solar ignition fire while not having means to create fire easily and then call your kit a survival kit. You should not be including items for signaling that are the same color as the woods or ground... You should not be including items that may be the difference between life and death to prevent hypothermia to use a browse bed knowing that item would be very easily destroyed by that useage and far better suited to be used for its purpose to reflect heat.. when you could simply include other things to make a browse bed from. These decisions reflect directly on the lack of knowledge and applications of these items. To order all of these items to assemble a kit for 100$ and make all these decisions willfully to assemble this kit says you should not be teaching others how to survive because you lack the knowledge yourself on how to survive. A person can take that being said as insult and believe that what they are doing is perfectly fine or they can take that and read it and acknowledge it and give some real thought to it. I'm being brutally honest with no disrespect intended. The goal in the Survival community is to get people to be prepared to Survive and sometimes you means pointing some things out that need to be addressed. We are all learning and striving to be better and more well prepared.

Really? Everything inside the bag is ok to be bought off of temu, but you for some reason draw the line with the questionable quality of the bags… dude that’s funny… I’ve bought bags and pouches on there that are almost identical to offerings from vanquest and condor except a third of the price. So far, I’ve had no issues with them. There is a 3 piece emergency tent/bivy/poncho kit for $12 that’s in my opinion made of a material a little heftier than the Mylar blankets, to me feels more like a thick trash can liner with a Mylar side.

Most of the bags on temu use Polyester. Which for occasional use is alright, basically on the same level as Rothco products. As I mentioned also, since I was trying to get as close to the $100 mark as I could, a bag just wasn't viable in that budget range.

Why do you guys continue to buy from Chines companies? I would not recommend dealing with them. Temu is a big Chinese company selling very cheap items. They have a ridiculously big marketing budget and they are making a huge loss on every sale but by doing this they hope to force out the competition and the way it's going they will. They won't be able to sustain the cheap prices forever but hope that they will gain the market share with their cheap price strategy. By shopping with them it will force many smaller businesses out of the market and out of business, which will have an adverse effect on the economy of your country. Support your local businesses and stop buying into this cheap price strategy.
