As a beekeeper I am happy to know that the honey bee has a “part’ in your fishing world.😊 another behind the scenes look that most of us don’t even know about.

Thanks for showing us that and I Hope you never have to use that suit for you know what. Do you have a suit each in each boat or swap over before you go Out? Thanks again really enjoy 'hanging' out with you guys. An idea for a video : each crew member Mom, Dad, Mat and T are timed getting into their suits and the slowest has to cook the fastest persons favourite food for a week ❤

Great information. Check out the video at 21.05 and see if there’s a hole in the suit or if it’s reflective tape.😮 It looks like it could be under a flap.

Yep, just the refective tape. Double checked tho! Thanks!

Its really great to see you guys taking survival so seriously. Most people can't understand what it's like to end up in the water wether it's Alaska or even off the oregon coast. The shock alone sucks the air out of your lungs and most guys die when they first enter the water and thier head is submerged and the shock causes them to inhale and they end up with a air way full of salt water. Without the survival suit that's something most people can't recover from. Sinking or a rollover is a couple of the worse case scenarios, but my biggest fear was a engine compartment fire . I'm sure as careful as you guys always are youve got smoke alarms in the engine room that hopefully are loud enough to hear anywhere on the boat. Do you have carbon monoxide alarms below deck and in the fish holds. The reason I ask I lost two very good friends that died in thier sleep from carbon monoxide from a faulty exhaust leak they didn't know about.

This is the standard issue suit boats must provide for all souls onboard. I had a buddy (scuba guy) make me a custom suit out of a standard suit. Propper 5 finger gloves, critical! Just better fit than the one size fits all approach. Hands are critical departing a sinking boat and after.

Another part of this is where are they located in the boat! And how ez is the access from different areas of the boat

Great to see the safety procedures. Could you show us a ‘man over board drill’ ? I’m a recreational sailor on a yacht and we do a man over drill each year. Even the least experienced of us know how to get the yacht back to where we believe the person went over. Gives us all confidence that in a worst case scenario and you’re the only one not swept over board, you can get back to where you’re crew mates are. The North Sea off the UK is fun, but you have to have the ducks in order, just in case.

Way to go guys, great demo and times getting into the suits. Let's be hopeful you never need to break them out.😊 Doesn't the Coast Guard still offer training for survival suits and life rafts? I like the way you started with the maintenance of your suit, it is very important. Next you should talk about life rafts and EPERBS.😊

Hi guys happy new year to everyone. After putting on the suit , do you put a face mask on? Or how do you stop water getting in where the face is open. Thanks guys Jason from Australia
@EISAlaska6 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question Jason. The hood seals well around the face, tight enough it doesn't let much water in.

Hoping of course that you never have to wear these wetsuits, congratulations on the times. A curiosity: why is it really necessary to take off your shoes if you wear them? The feet of the wetsuit seem very large. Taking off your shoes does not take much time, but you waste a few seconds having to pick them up and put them inside before closing the zip. Maybe you take off your shoes assuming you are wearing boots that probably won't fit?

Even with the suit and it's safety features, we still hear of multiple losses of life on fishing vessels. Does the Capitans of these vessels believe they can save their ship and delay the donning of these suits?

I’m sure your required to have an EPIRB and life raft, is the bottom of the life raft insulated and do you have a go bag with flares and VHF?

If i can say is if you even think you're going down put them on OK 99.9 percent of boats go down to fast ....to get it on its 13:19 s better to be prepared for it

One more thing the caption or the head of the coastguard had just did his yearly test in just 1 hour had to be gotten up Like I said we were called lyers but we were proven that boat went down where we said it sunk 5 miles from its called green bank and they told us radios would not come in where we sunk if you ever want to hear the story all of it let me know thanks guys

Use wader patch or good ol shoe goo. $5 at most stores.Fred Meyer. It works very well and will dry in water. I fish river and carry it . Have had punctures while fishing even had the crotch rip out. Patched it. But let it dry like 2/2 hour. Holds well.
