Fresh Start in No Man's Sky Interceptor Episode 1

Your direction you face when the game gives you control is the direction of your crashed ship. RUN! especially on survival mode. "Run and gun". Run and mine everything on your way to your crashed ship. Do not stop to mine. This nearby cave thing is something the game may be providing new players to keep them from dying as I've seen it repeatedly now. Those hazardous spores in the cave provide sodium and oxygen. His shield was charged up further somehow, so I assume he mined them off camera. (He explains that at a later time in the video). Just like perhaps the new cave, you will have 4 oxygen plants provided by the game at your first crashed ship. Oxygen is for your health meter. Sodium is for your shield recharge. Life support packs and batteries though they take up a slot, can save on oxygen and sodium when you manufacture them in your backpack. When you're going after you Hermetic Seal and the scripted storm triggers, just turn around and wait out the storm back in your crashed ship. The walk from your crashed ship to facility that your Hermetic Seal is in is calculated for you to run out of shields even if there is NO storm, so be prepared to recharge. He's jet packing forward on the PC keyboard with a simultaneous forward(W), Punch (Q), and Jump (Space Bar). (He partially explains that later in the video.) The Atlas Pass 1 (& 2 &3) are simply blueprints available on the Anomaly space station. You make the Atlas passes. They are available as soon as you advance the main quest to get into the Anomaly. They are very helpful as the Atlas containers are lying about everywhere you are looting other containers, so it is efficient to be able to loot them also. And enter doors in buildings that you are entering anyway (Atlas Pass 2). Getting a Terrain Manipulator early in the missions is not only good for mining bulk materials, but digging your own emergency cave to hide from weather and Sentinals. When you take off, you're using up a portion of your Launch Fuel. After that all your low speed thruster flying doesn't cost any fuel. This includes Shift boosting for faster speed. Your faster impulse drive is fueled by Tritium (and something else) for solar system flying, and interstellar travel is fueled by Warp Core fuel. Keeping your Launch Fuel topped off (I forget how high the %) will allow you to recall you ship to yourself in the X menu. If the launch fuel is not charged enough, you cannot recall your ship. There is an auto-recharger module and a launch fuel efficiency module available in the Anomaly that you can install in all your ships for quality of life improvement. The Drop Pod cheese glitch has been fixed, so you cannot cheese the drop pods without repairing it anymore. Good to learn that the cave marrow bulbs can refine into sodium too.

Three years and probably 600-700 hours in this game, and I literally never noticed the waypoints get you nanites in the discoveries tab🤦‍♀️ Explains quite a few “mystery nanites” I’ve gotten along the way 😆 Always something new to learn!

What I like to do is find all the fauna on a planet, then turn those in after I finish each planet in the discoveries tab, then after a few systems I go to the anamoly to turn in my findings for around 5-9k nanites. It’s not the most time efficient way to get nanites but the constant income of them is quite nice and it feels very rewarding! Cheers, happy hunting! One thing for people who might be struggling at the start, your hazard protection is stealth buffed when you first start the game and goes down much slower than usual, the small amount you start with will last about 18 minutes. This steath buff disappears as soon as you repair the scanner and it will start dropping much more quickly. On normal it will immediately drop from 18 minutes to 3 minutes. So it can be worth spending a little bit of time looking for a cave or looking for sodium (photo mode and making it night makes this pretty easy) before you repair the scanner, especially on the harder difficulties where I imagine you'll have less than a minute after repairing.

@@SurvivalBobGaming It applies to survival and permadeath too, but the numbers are different, on both of those I had about 5:30 to 5:40 left by the time I built an analysis visor so I'm guessing you start with about 6 minutes, I was at about 5:00-5:20 when I repaired the scanner and it immediately dropped to 45-50 seconds. So it seems that prior to repairing your scanner you have a roughly 500-600% buff to hazard protection. This buff doesn't disappear even if you recharge using a cave or sodium and on normal can push your hazard protection to over 50 minutes, it seems tied to your scanner alone. I hadn't seen it before either and I got 500 odd hours in the game so may be a recent addition, I guess it's to make it a bit easier for new players, I wondered if it was possible to abuse, but the game won't let you repair your ship until you repair the scanner.

FYI in general settings you can change vendor item variety to abundant and then you can buy O2/life support gels/ batteries/etc. Just found this out yesterday playing with settings.

With those new ships it's easy to make lots of units. I farmed 3 ships in a half hour and scrap them for over 40 mil a piece.

I don't know if anyone posted this. But a Quick way to get thru all waves of the Senitals. Attack a few of them and jump in your ship and sit there. Some reason each wave comes in and attacks your ship, but no real damage. Then all of sudden a Frigate will jump in and then have fun taking it out. I did this on accident. I made some mad and figure I just hope in my ship and wait it out.

If the photon cannon in a crashed ship is BROKEN, you can break it for parts too. Exosuit super charged slot are the same for everybody and are row 1: column 5 r2:c9 and r3c3.

The new Interceptors are wild, apparently they're procgen so there's an insane variation. My first one was butt ugly, but the 2nd I found looks like an origami sculpture when landed and it unfolds when in flight. The new multitools are sweet as well, mine looks like a Fallout gauss rifle, lol. My Living Ship Nakomis will always be my favorite, but the Interceptor is a very close second.

Thanks for the series, had been looking for a new game, since I was totally burnt out on Skyrim, and this one works. Knowing something is possible, makes it possible... and while I wouldn't call your videos tutorials, they open up a wide range of possibilities for a new player. So new, 80 hours in and I found the Synthesis Laboratory today, after days of looking for Quantum Computers and Solar Mirrors. One question though, why do some recipes show up as full color and yet when you try to make them, you get a "recipe unknown" error?

Always love a fresh start from you, Bob. You're a great guide to how to play as you play. An FYI on Transmission Towers. They always give one of two things. A crashed ship that you are guaranteed to be able to claim or a crashed freighter. The pattern tends to be two crashed locations, and one crashed freighter out of every three Towers. The order is random. The maps at the station send you to the help the pilot missions two out of three times. Again, the order is random. You're definitely going to get a crashed ship that you can claim if you have four maps. I find the Transmission towers to be slightly better because it's disappointing to come upon a great ship only to have an alien asking for favors. Be well, stay awesome. Looking forward to the rest of this playthrough. Bring on the sentinels

Any other tips for the drop pod suit upgrade trick? No matter how many times I try I can’t seem to get it to work right. I can’t get the menu to add the upgrade to pop up after doing the container part and going back to pod.
