I have the original (Parker Brothers) board game and not going to get rid of it even though I bought the reproduction and I love the repro! They are both similar but I love the wooden guys and wooden monsters as the originals the boats were just card board and the monsters were a soft plastic while the guys were just plastic guys like in a Risk game. And all the parts are all there as well but sadly one of the yellow guys is broken and only the bottom part is left so if we play the old Survive! then we have to all take out one guy. I know one christmas I found Survive on Amazon and then found the expansions and my sister, bro and my mom and dad all got Survive and all expansions that xmas year. And they all loved me for it as we all loved the game growing up. And that is when we were curious who was the original so we got out our original Survive and wow Parker Brothers was stamped on it and then we wondered why the game was not all over the place back when it was originally made as most of Parker Brothers stuff was pretty good so don't know what happened there. This is a board game that they did not mess up that is for sure pretty much just like the old game was. :)

Pro tip, put all your 1's on the edge, command the boats, if your opponents are predictable they put 6's on the edge...drive them to their DOOM!

The tiles go from rock in the center the green in the middle and the sand on the outer edge I also have the original 1982

My whole family loves this game. It's one of the best "Mess up your opponent" games out there. We did buy the expansions as well. Great game.

While I like the new artwork on the box and backs of the tiles and the new design of meeples, the 5-6 player expansion and dolphins still makes the last edition the definitive edition in my mind.

You don't place the pieces randomly. You place in order with rocks in the middle and sand on the edge...according to the actual instructions
