This is a fantastic tutorial! I am actually definitely checking the rest of your channel just for this. I was planning on trying supernova but felt I was way in over my head, this advice was exactly what I needed, and some great combat tips too! Thanks!

If I had the game knowledge I have now back when I made this video, it would have been even better. And I have to give you a fair warning, throughout all my Outer Worlds tutorials, I repeat a lot of stuff, which is something I hope to avoid in future video series. But I'm glad you found this one helpful! :)

Thumbnail says this tutorial is "COMPLETE", but such is the nature of clickbait. In truth, it's as complete as I could've made it in less than a week after the game was released. I didn't have an early copy like other big youtubers, since... I'm not big; but I did what I could to provide the most information to help you beat the scorching heat of the Supernova. After this video was done, I learned a lot more things which will be shared in upcoming "build" videos for this game. Builds which are obviously tailored to survive the Supernova. Here's the first among them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHfdq32ZbL2re7s Edit: I've crossed off the word "complete" from the thumbnail, because with the release of my build primer, I realized this video ain't quite complete anymore: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmPWl6mtrM6qY9E And if you think there's something worth mentioning that I've missed, leave a comment telling me about it. It's sure to help other folks landing on this video.

Don’t take the robot flaw if you want to use speech options. There are a lot of automotrons around the areas where speech’ checks can be made. You also have this flaw active at all times with Sam
@Halcylion5 жыл бұрын
I took it on my first playthrough, but my dialog skills are already at minimum, as for the other stats being lost... it doesn't affect me that much. I got good enough at combat and I only die when I take stupid decisions that I knew I shouldn't take in the first place. I think that character has 3 or 4 flaws now, and the playthrough is going great, but I don't recommend anyone to take any flaws. Some are good, but most are risky.
@willblizard36105 жыл бұрын
Yes,but like i said, if you have interests in using speech checks, there are many automatrons in the areas where you can speech check npcs,like the MSI area or the ground breaker for instance,so the robotic flaw could be a detriment. So I would take any other ones like the raptidon flaw or the mantis flaw because you are very unlikely to find raptidons or Mantids around important NPCs,but some of them like Sanjar are surrounded by robots.
@Halcylion5 жыл бұрын
@@willblizard3610 You make good points with which I agree completely. My point however is that if you pick any flaws at all, be careful they don't interfere with your playstyle. For speech checks, robophobia is terrible, but for my character, who's just trying to hold on for dear life, taking the mantis or rapt flaw instead would be a death sentence, especially on Monarch, where they're infesting the place. Then there's also flaws you should always avoid, like "Permanently Crippled", which lowers your move speed by 30% until you decide is a bad idea and reload the latest save. If I were to roll an inspiration/dialog build, robo would be instantly discarded, instead collecting every single damage increase flaw that I can, since I'll send companions to fight my battles anyway. With that said, when I first picked robo, it said: "Your stats are decreased when you are BEING ATTACKED by robots". Only on groundbreaker did I discover that I'm afraid of ALL robots, not only hostile ones. If I knew I'd be crippled with SAM by my side, I would've rejected it.
@willblizard36105 жыл бұрын
Yes that is why I said if you want to use dialog,the flaws are a little ambiguous and that was the biggest point I was trying to make. I took the robotics phobia early on thinking it was only combat related,until later on I couldn’t use certain dialog options,even though it says something along the line of,robots give you the willies,robots do more damage in combat and reduce skills,it never explicitly explains that every robot in an out of combat triggers the phobia,but in makes sense in retrospect, but even the little floating advertisement robots in groundbreaker will mess with your skills. And that can be really inconvenient like for instance you are trying to pass a perception check in speech. But like you said if you aren’t prioritizing trying to use speech to your advantage it’s mostly irrelevant.

As far as flaws go, it seems drug/food addiction is the most harmless, as you always have some on you... Don't know when does the game activate those flaws though (count? frequency?), so if anyone knows - please do tell

Thanks for the excellent guide. I'm not sure I'm interested in Supernova mode b/c of how fragile the Companions are. For now I've been playing on Hard but I don't use Science Weapons or any Light Machine Guns, both of which can be insanely powerful.
@Halcylion4 жыл бұрын
I have several build guides tailored for Supernova. One of those is entirely on making your companions the most powerful beings in existence, called "The Corporate", and I also have a solo sniper guide, "The Operator". If you play supernova, you either spec fully into leadership or you leave them behind on your ship, and only take them when they have quests.
@kevinhammond23614 жыл бұрын
@@Halcylion thanks! that makes sense. I kind of like the "no manual saves" aspect of Supernova. When I first played the game (on Normal) I didn't realize you could even manually save. And I accidentally killed Gladys so I had to march all the way from Cascadia to Stellar Bay through Mantis territory and almost no Fast Travel points. Even worse, I didn't realize that Plasma weapons are BAD to use vs. Mantisaurs - Corrosive is the best, and Electric is ok. So it was a horrifying 1300 meter march along the west side of the canyon, where I kept winning 1-2 battles but then getting killed and then having to fight all of them again : ) I also wasn't using SAM and didn't have Nyoka yet - the two best on Monarch IMO. Anyway the challenge of that reminded me of your early exp with Supernova

My advice would be - avoid selling armor/weapons that cost below 30, deconstruct for mods instead.

I don't get it, supernova is still too easy for me, to the point that i start to lose interest in the game, wich is a shame, cause it's very good otherwise. i mean after level 5 i barely ever die, how is that even...
@Halcylion5 жыл бұрын
For me the game got easy after I understood most of its mechanics. My level 20 heavy weapons build started melting entire groups of enemies within 5 seconds. But here's the thing: if you want a challenge for future playthroughs, you can create it yourself... pick ever flaw you can (except crippled, that one is just annoying), disregard tinkering, go for a stealth/dialog focused non-lethal playthrough, or simply try to beat the game with the first weapons you get. I know these don't much sound like solutions, but they're something you can do to spice things up. I personally still have fun with the game because there's many builds I like to experiment with, and I've only finished the game once... I wanna see multiple endings.
