There are fireplace inserts that do everything you are looking for. They work just like a free-standing wood stove, with the secondary burn and all of that, only it fits into the fireplace opening. I would look for one before you go to the trouble of trying to custom fabricate some version of the same thing yourself. They are expensive new, but you might find one used for less than the cost of doing it yourself.

This is the way. I tend to make things too complicated. However - sometimes I have more time than money. Not sure where my wallet will be before next winter :-)

Right?!?! They have been banned in so many places for air quality these days you almost never see them.

My soapstone woodstore is set in front of my fireplace and vented up the chimney. Best Wishes

Thank you for sharing. I have a large old soapstone wood / coal stove. I’ll share a video. Do you heat solely with wood?

I have been thinking about a rocket stove I could feed wood chips from a hopper. Maybe someday - after I fix the roof :-) and yes - the big fire is really sexy in the winter.

use big round wood when you go to bed and it will last longer

Doesn’t it matter on the soft n hardness off certain woods as well to heat
@Cabin_Dad6 ай бұрын
Totally. Woods like oak have much more energy. Pine like we have here is much less.

why do KZbin channels always look at the screen , while filming, not the actual camera like you actually talking to us
@Cabin_Dad7 ай бұрын
I do appreciate you watching and commenting, I'll do what I can to look at the camera hole more if you keep supporting us with views and subscriptions! Just remember, we are amateurs, sharing our life. I have to hold the camera stick thing and make sure I am framed, and still do the thing i am trying to do. I ain't complaining, but a one man show kinda gets one man production values....

It’s a habit to look at faces when having a conversation. It takes a lot more practice to adjust looking at a dot or empty space. Try it, let us know how well you did. Also, Casey Neistat did a vlog about it. Go watch that one too.

@@Pterodactyl-kn3ve I should put a sticker of a face next to the camera!
