Playing dead can make bears curious. Best option is to be as motionless as possible while moving very slowly away. Bears have a bad eyesight so they can't detect the slow movement and will no longer see you after you've gotten far enough. This advice is from a person who's actually confronted said animal.

To the bit about Recluses dealing tissue damage. Over 90% of bites from Brown Recluses are "dry bites". Which are basically low to no venom injection bites. IE: 90% of bites from brown recluses do not reach the necrosis stage. At most they cause a bit of discomfort and minor pain. During the healing process they can get really itchy like most bites, but you do not want to scratch them as scratching spreads the infection to more areas under the skin.

Ive actually been stung by a stingray. What you do to get the stinger out is get some extremely hot water and soak the affected area. it opens the wound and helps dislodge the barb.
