3 Days ago i jumped in to WvW for my first time, what makes it super hard for a new player like me is that i have to get my mount by doing certain tasks. Its a huge disadvantage not to have a mount while trying to get from A to B on foot. I played as a Power Herald and encountered a dragonhunter that was killing innocent dolyaks... it was pretty intense because it was my first PvP like experience in the game. I have 4 lvl 80 chars btw... so i enjoyed a lot of the pve aspect so far. Well to make a long story a bit shorter i got smoked like weed in a bong. No chance at all lol I went out again to get revenge, he was still killing dolyaks... lol and i got smoked again. I went to a Mine of some sort and took it for our side and then the dragonhunter was nearby again, this time not to kill dolyaks but to kill me and take the mine back, guess what happened next? Yea you guessed right, i got smoked again.. It was really discouraging to be honest, but i know that i just have to git gud the hard way. Im just not sure which class to take in to WvW as a beginner x) Nice tips btw

It takes time to learn the play style of WvW because it’s so much different than PVE. You really need to learn your class, but also understand what are some of the common builds other classes are running to get an idea when to dodge/kite and counters. Keep at it! One of my favorite game modes, always keep me on my toes.

I've been playing GW2 almost since launch with a long break in the middle, and it was only after coming back from that break that I really tried out WvW. It's never to late to start. I'm sort of addicted now because I'm having so much fun with it. I have improved a lot from where I was in the beginning and yet I am still learning - and that's part of the fun. My skill in PvE has gone up as well because of it. Getting the warclaw will help ofc but until then you can stay close to other mounted players in order to get their speed. I would also advice you to stick to a tag in the beginning and to get the experience or reward track booster from your guild hall plus any other boosters you got lying around such as the birthday one. In time you can also aquire infusions and enrichments with WvW specific stats. Edit: I noticed this post is from almost a year ago so now I am curious, did you stick with WvW?

If you do more defensive videos, then I will definitely subscribe and share. I am on a hunt for all the defensive information in the game. Personally, I feel people have mastered attacking but the defensive side of the game is lacking.

this is true, i love wvw but it's annoying that when you enter the game, you will see your keeps having high tier but when you get inside, there's barely any defensive weapons built. and then when an incoming zerg is near, no one would use cannons like wtf? Most people would just like to do zergs and flip enemy camps, but no one will be there left to keep an eye on keeps.

@@2Btoobee I blame anet for not creating individual rewards for defending keeps, something you must do for an 'achievement' before you leave WvW. Honestly, Anet is behind on all the attacks possible in the game, It's one of the main reasons many complain the game is unbalanced. A prepared defense should counter a rash offense. I can understand a well-calculated attack defeating the unprepared but defending keeps should be normal to even new players. They could easily make the NPCs talk and guide people to their defensive stations. something like NPC guard '' Follow me to defend your keep, place an arrow cart here, you can purchase them from your this waypoint {insert relevant waypoint}''.

I know... they just talk crap because wall hugging ranger is playing smart and beating them. That is like saying: "Chicken-sh*t, run-away thief". Why don't they just stand and fight like a man instead of disappearing and running and coming back and then running again. Well... the reason why they don't stand and fight is that they aren't BUILT for that.
