The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.2!
This tutorial will show you how to start a Pillager Raid in Minecraft, and how to defeat the waves of Pillagers, Vindicators, Witches, Evokers and Ravagers!
First, we need to find a pillager outpost - which spawns pillager patrol captains, so you don't have to wait for a pillager patrol to spawn. Then, selecting a nearby village, we walk in with the Bad Omen effect to begin the raid!
We discuss how raids are affected by difficulty, and the different mobs that appear in each raid - Pillagers, Vindicators, and Evokers. These last two 'Illagers' also appear in Woodland Mansions, but this time they've brought backup in the form of Witches and Ravagers! We also get our first look at the Vex, flying creatures which can be summoned by Evokers.
Upon defeating the raid, we get the Hero of the Village effect - which grants us additional discounts and even free items from villagers. We snag a Totem of Undying from an Evoker, with a quick explanation of how it can save you from death, then return home to see how Hero of the Village stacks with the permanent zombie curing discount now that Mojang has rebalanced villager discounts!

i honestly hope someone makes a Decked Out 2 mod that allows people to play decked out themselves. even if you get the world download of hermitcraft s9, you'd still have to go through and do all the dungeon mastering yourself. i imagine something like a stripped down vault hunters that isn't so heavily laden with extra modpacks.

Having Hero of the Village grants a flat 30% discount to the base price, and each additional level adds 6.25% to that discount. This discount is additive with the reputation-based price changes. As for the number of raid waves, you actually only get one extra wave for having a Bad Omen level greater than 1. Higher levels only increase the level of Hero of the Villager you take away from defeating the raid.

As far as his fans, I guess the only dealings I've had are with his twitch chat, which is generally all around super positive. Quick tip: carry a bucket of milk or honey bottles with you while fighting a raid party. Both can cure poisoning, milk can remove the slowness effect as well as far as I know :)

Milk removes all stats effects, so yeah! Even ends bad omen, which is extra useful

or just outright dodge the witches poison / slowness, in java the second the witch see's you they throw said potion, so no waiting around for them to make their move

Milk also, unfortunately, removes Hero of the Village. At least in 1.19. So be careful on when to cure yourself in that last raid wave.

Looking forward to your village defense system! I always choose a hilly village for my base and surround it with a set of 3-wide water stream canals leading to 3x3 magma block killing pits. I need a double layer of fences inside the canal boundary to keep the golems away from pillager arrows. 5 blocks between the fence lines seems to work. I use that space for crops and bamboo. The only manual labor during a raid is to shoot witches in the magma pits with my bow because their potions protect them from the magma blocks.

Amazing mountain find on your journey. Wow, you went quite far for that outpost. There's one not that far north if you take a boat along the coast behind the cherry mountain. Maybe 1,000 blocks or so right by a ruined portal. But you found that mountain with the epic dripstone valley in front. Note that Wattles has a very easy to build raid farm for 1.20 that you can lava cast on an ocean.

it's worth noting, if you're on bedrock edition, raids are VERY easy, at least in comparison to java edition, you can get enchanted iron tools, enchanted books and a lot of emeralds (unless of course they changed that in bedrock) I used to farm them early game for pretty solid iron gear + fortune pickaxes and looting swords

not even mentioning the fact that A: ravagers have a delay to their attack, meaning you can dodge it and kill it in any situation and B: evokers take actual time to cast their spells kinda makes raids slightly easier (oh and witches and pillagers have different AI but its not a buff or a nerf by much)

I learned something interesting about Raids a few weeks back. A while ago I captured a Raid Witch in order to build a de-zombification system. I tucked her away under the village in my curing center and she works fine. After some time, I decided I wanted to do another Raid. I got it going and the raid bar immediately popped up to 1 enemy remaining. So, it seems that the raid members are flagged and counted even after the original raid times out. I don't know if this is for all villages or just this one with the witch in it. I'll have to test this out. This happened in 1.19.

@@brittanyburns7714 I use her for the weakness potion effect. I hadn't found a fortress yet so I needed another source of weakness. It's a T shaped four block set up. Zombie in the trunk of the T, witch in one arm, you in the other, and the zombie villager in the cross point. Witch sees you past the ZV and hucks potions at you. Eventually, they throw the weakness. You'll want to have milk and food on hand. As for your other questions... I've been watching his videos for a couple of months. No, I haven't interacted directly with him or other commentators. I don't comment very often so little interaction on my part.

My friend has a spellbook farm at home with librarians locked up in there, and while I was on my way to the cows to get rid of the bad omen effect after I killed some troopers nearby, I got a surprise raid at my base x,d, though it was pretty funny how our home worked pretty well as a battle arena, but omg I didn't expect that to trigger a raid, I thought it needed to be pregenerated villages or something

I'm pretty sure that the new villager changes are still experimental ones, so they might not apply if you just upgrade to 1.20.2. Not sure if it's possible to toggle the experimental features in older worlds.

If your going for a max level raid, going for the patrol captains can actually be faster than waiting for 5 captains to spawn in the outpost tower. The patrol captains will give you a random level of bad omen, and that will stack with the previous one just like the ones from the outpost

It does have a limited range, but this still works. Worth noting that Bedrock edition doesn't have the spectral effect yet, so doesn't work there (also why spectral arrows aren't in bedrock edition)

in all fairness evokers take more time to cast spells, ravagers have 10X easier hitboxes, and vindicators are slightly slower in bedrock, so not having the spectral no-clip vision is passable

That doesn't make a difference as far as the player is concerned; the player can still respawn at that bed afaik. But the point of that was not to set a respawn point but to pass the night; especially on normal difficulty I feel like pixlriffs was 100% confident he would survive the raid.

@@64bit_link Pixlriffs had just been hit with poison when he placed his bed on top of the tree. He wasn't trying to skip the night, since it was still daytime, he was setting his respawn point in case something unexpected happened.

Leaves aren't spawnable for hostile mobs, but a player can absolutely respawn at a bed placed on leaves. Try it yourself in creative 👍

As far as I know beds were recently-ish updated, so if there aren't any valid spawns directly around it, you will spawn on top of the bed (as long as there's enough space - 2 air blocks)

Typically it's in deepslate levels however it can go up a bit and be in the very low deepslate levels. Really the safe method of knowing for sure is they usually are below mountain biomes (meadow, stony and snowy peaks, etc.) So if you're looking for one you're best chances are there

I had found a watch tower on Solidarity's new server, and I'm gonna try converting into a bad omen farm. The tower is on the tip of a landmass, so it's almost completely surrounded by water. I just need to waterlog the rest of the landmass where the pillagers spawn in, and I should be able to make a pretty efficient farm.

semi-incorrect it lasts 10-20 seconds however refreshes constantly for a hour however only in the village you saved from the raid, meaning raid farms on bedrock have to be on your trading area if you want to use the hero of the village effect
