@@SurvivingSchizophrenia that's awesome that you remembered that I'm an advocate for this young girl. Her name is Morgan she's only two years younger than you. And has had the similar pattern and started at the same age of onset. No one has heard her cries because of the stigma. YOU have opened the door to knowledge. And knowledge is key 🗝️ 🚪 Ty my friend.

Congrats on your 1000+ subscribers. 🙂 You also highlight a very valid point here Stephen about the needing to talk, discuss and shed the burdens of suffering, getting everyone to a shared page of understanding on all manner of afflictions (especially families). Having to deal with afflictions is bad enough, then there is the diagnosis on top. I'd imagine it's like a 10-tonne weight. Loved ones will have a immediate point of focus on constantly checking on how someone is feeling, coping etc. which is rightfully so, but once in recovery all those emotions are still raw and unprocessed. There is a need to talk. There is a need to talk for the sufferer to process those emotions, build better understandings of what happened, why it happened and to be reassured that they are on the road to recovery. Then there is also the need for loved ones to talk, to process their emotions, and to share those emotions and concerns as healing continues. It helps to rebuild family relationships etc. and for everyone to start to focus on a healthier future from a place of understanding and healthy communication with less or no barriers. It also helps a sufferer to move forward from a place of constant scrutiny and a feeling of perhaps inferiority to one of getting their story out, taking back their pride and self-worth and moving forward putting past trauma behind...🙂 From my own experiences I would say to put the past well and truly behind there is a need for closure. We know we have closure when we can look back at past events with clear understandings, positive take-aways (even if it's just learning to pre-empt declines in our mental health) and no negative thoughts when looking back. If closure is needed I would imagine confiding in health teams etc. is the way to go... Just to add these are purely my thoughts (I'm not a health professional etc), but I share them here in the hope they might help.
