There are many people across the country who were average working class who are now homeless because there wasn't anyone that helped them out when they really needed a hand, they lost their homes, they lost everything That was an expensive building to live in, one unit recently sold for 2.8 million dollars, so I imagine that the people who lived in that building were upper middle class on the bottom end and on the higher end, wealthy people. I plan to contribute to any charity that will aid with the burial expenses but nothing else, instead I will donate to an organization that helps out the invisible people, the poor homeless people that we all pretend we can not see, many of them don't know where their next meal will be coming from. I live in the state of Utah, I believe that we are the state with the best economy in the nation but we have a very high number of homeless. My wife and I like traveling in our country, we have been on quite a few multi year road trips and have never seen the number of homeless like there is in this state. If you read this, I thank you for taking the time to do so.

He has been all over the news and this is the first time I hear him say he is grateful. People lost everything, including their lives. I find it hard to believe that his insurance won’t cover. The insurance asks you how much your valuables are worth and based on that they give you the insurance. And also, how is he saying that he didn’t have enough insurance or that people don’t have enough insurance. How does he know? Again, insurance companies insure base on the value of your belongings or what they/you believe is worth, especially personal belongings. The insurance money and donations should be enough for him to start over. He didn’t have replacement insurance?! I am not buying that, as a previous homeowner and a renter, I know how this things are calculated. Even his car insurance should be enough to replace his car. Good grief!

Insurance doesn’t cover everything. Also you have to foot a sizable amount of the cost. This goes for lower middle class people as well as people who seem to have money. Also, you may still be paying a mortgage on the wrecked place.
@cdh23283 жыл бұрын
Insurance companies have high paid lawyers so they can wiggle out of paying. Buyer beware. In insurance like other things the big print giveth and the small print take the away. The insurance companies will find every loop hole to get out of paying. If you didn’t have enough insurance for instance, they won’t pay out. They are all take and no give and sadly in the case of life insurance you won’t know if they paid out because you are dead! We buy insurance because we have to and we believe they’ll be there for us when we need it. What a big fat lie that is. You’re treated like a criminal and a third class citizen. They treat you like you caused the problem. They will do everything in their power to not pay out. Talk about a big scam .... buying insurance is only lucrative to the insurance company! Much like banks!
@cindyeisenberg83673 жыл бұрын
I understand that, but when you lose everything, the insurance money will only start after you put up 1/3 of the money. I also own a condo. Now, they will also be able to access their insurance faster. But, ordinarily you have to wait for that. Insurance is very expensive in hurricane prone areas. He also may have a mortgage on his wrecked condo. Even though more comfortable than the rest of us, may have no place to go. He can rent a car until he gets another one. But, one has to have all of their information to access some of their important numbers. In duress, you’ll leave them. I am sure he is grateful to be alive. But, this is a difficult time for him. Even though I sometimes resent more wealthy people who can retire, even though I work and am disabled in order to eat. I have sympathy for them in this situation.

So, you'd spend an entire week accomplishing nothing while sitting in a hotel someone else is paying for? What exactly would be your time frame for rebuilding your life on someone else's dime? He has nothing, except what others are giving him and he clearly wants that to change as soon as possible so that he can move on with his life because praising and praying isn't going to fix any of those issues. Also, all those dead people dragged their feet on repairs too, so, I'm guessing you're also having funny feelings about the dead victims as well, right? They just found a family of four, so, what's your funny feeling about the parents of the two kids? What if they dragged their feet and killed their kids in the process? You're gonna pint fingers at them too, right? Wouldn't want to be unfair when distributing blame, now would we? The entire building is at fault and the survivors have to live with knowing they were lucky to be alive but the dead aren't absolved of guilt and only have themselves to blame. Now imagine the judgment others would be placed on you if you were being interviewed days after your entire life literally fell down around you? Also, isn't "I have a funny feeling" just a nice way of saying you're judging someone, and don't you have a rule against judging? Judge: form an opinion or conclusion about (I'd say what you did fits that definition) Matthew 7 :: NIV. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" Now that I think about it, it makes sense that you'd be praying for an entire week while living off of charity because you're probably not a very good Christian and would need all the help you can get, being that you're so judgmental. I'm not a Christian, so, none of those rules apply to me and I'm free to judge horrible people like yourself, but don't you go judging me. That'd be twice in one day and that's like super sin or something.

Hey, Steve! You're ALIVE. Choosing to live in a million dollar condo off the coast of Florida on this fragile earth was a risk. Call your agent to start a claim, then do something to make the world better.

Wow, people were living in condos worth 400,000 and up during the pandemic, Ian now they have nothing ?. Where the insurance companies, they should have already paid out something..state welfare are handing out all types of rent payments and food allotments , someone needs to direct them to the state agencies ..

This guy is a jerk. He was saved on a cherry picker and has a scrape on his arm. Now he is suing because he’s lost “everything” and the Red Cross only gave him an apartment for a week. I don’t understand. If you live in an apartment in this community, all of which are very very expensive, you should have enough money put away for an emergency and this clearly is an emergency. He is just concerned about who is going to distribute the money that has been collected and how much he is going to get. Clearly, he is not thinking about those who have lost loved ones and in some cases entire families. Since he lives in a condo he should have content insurance which is going to cover everything inside his home. The structure will be covered somewhere else. If he doesn’t have insurance that’s his problem. Also, I think part of his problem is that his apartment was not demolished at the time so I think he’s worried about making an insurance claim. I’m just speculating at this point. I am wondering what was he doing before this tragedy. Was he working? Or is he retired. If he’s retired better yet he should have money saved. If he was still working, then he still has resources. I am sure his employer will be very helpful in this particular situation. I know there may be a lot of you that are not going to agree with me but I just get really pissed off every time I see this clip. He is very insensitive and clearly out for money.

The Liability issue will be convoluted; Condo Owners didn’t want to pay Repair Assesment. Aedin
@lextacy20083 жыл бұрын
Its still the final responsibility of the actual building owner to make the repairs. Sure the owner would send a bill to the "tenants" Not to mention the building's core such as columns and foundation are not the HOA members liability. So there is that also.
@dorasmith78753 жыл бұрын
I agree, LIABILITY will land more on the condo owners than anybody else. They made a stupid decision when they decided to live in a highrise on a sandbar in the ocean. That should not, however, affect insurance payments. Most property loss that isn't a deliberate criminal act is the result of human stupidity. Unless there was a deliberate act insurance usually pays. If they think those people were the victim of wrong behavior by someone else they may go after them.

Who is donating to people that lived in million dollar condos? What about the homeless on the streets RIGHT NOW? Especially the war vets who can’t even get proper medical care! I hope and will pray this is a second chance to this guy and the others. Don’t people see how screwed up this world is, with all the billionaires and millionaires, nobody should be homeless or without food anywhere in the world. We should all help one another as much as we can! Proverbs 19:17 - He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Romans 15:1 - We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

For Heaven's sake, anyone can see they were bird brains to live where they did, and that they should have done the repairs, or probably more realistically, cut their losses and left. When I do something that resulted from spectacular bad judgement, I usually just ADMIT it, pay any required reparations, and move on. Like the time the coffee maker I had on the stove caught fire and almost burned the place down, and I hadn't realized I shouldn't put a coffee maker on the stove. I am angry at the fuss residents of that building are generating, because they are whining and being considered victims, instead instead of admitting fault, and they did it to themselves.. All I really expect them to do about it, however, is admit to their own role in it and sound as if they care. I am not looking for a lifetime of continuing sobbing. Once admitting blame they should be helped, like anyone else who suffers by doing something stupid. Most accidents where someone gets hurt are caused by stupidity.

@@KM-em9me : I can only assume that any recent buyers had no idea what they were reading in the "minutes" to the general meetings, and any other disclosures. If the reports painted an optimistic picture... But still they must have realized that there'd be a hefty special assessment $$$$$. I don't know why anyone would buy into a building with such a long history of structural issues.
