I was surprised to find that some of these animals and insects exist in Tulsa, OK! 🫣 In reality, it may be unlikely to encounter any of these things (I really hope so, anyway!). Happy reading/watching.

Liking your shows! I've lived here 45 years or so. So glad you came. I'm in my 70s now. Would enjoy being a phone friend and help you get info about Tulsa. I raised 2 sons here ... one moved to Houston and one in Owasso. In 45 years, only one tornado, 2 ice storms, no coyotes, no snakes, plenty little spiders, wasps, mosquitoes.

Grew up NY but lived here a few decades. I've been going to Turkey mountain for years. Just stay on the trails & you'll be fine. I saw one copperhead in the grass once. They can sense your sound & motion so they get out of your way. I also have cats but I live by lots of trees so yes, hawks could be a concern. If you live in the city center your cat is probably ok. Tornados...just keep informed so if you hear a siren, you know what to do. Still not a big concern. Just educate yourself on all these things or you'll just worry yourself to death. Life is already short, so live life & be happy! 😁

I just moved to an area where the sirens aren’t audible. Makes me nervous. Picked up an inside warning device. I have a backpack with all my important documents inside always ready and in the place where I’ll hide. Until I install a shelter.

From CT but been here a lonng while. Interested to hear your perception of storm chasers and the local news channels during your first storm season here. The first year or so after we moved here, we would drive to hide in a basement during tornado watches. LOL. Few years later, and I remember my dad holding the back door open so that he more easily watch a tornado cut through a field beyond our backyard. "It was just a mini-tornado!" he says about it to this day! :D :D :D

@@yelyak A mini tornado?!? 🌪️🤣🤣 Holding the door open is next level! I’m 😆… That 1st storm season is gonna be interesting for sure. I feel like I’ll be the only one panicking while the long time Tulsans like you are so relaxed. 🫣

there are coyotes and other such animals on homes that back up to creeks. even where you wouldnt expect them. If you stay on the marked path at Turkey Mountain you should be ok. going with a guide would be pretty cool.

Have you had any encounters with roaches there? I hear they have less there than in Houston.
@keeturned40
@keeturned40 3 ай бұрын
I have seen zero roaches in my apartment in 2+ months thank God. Idk if they’re just aggressive with spraying or I got lucky. In Houston you would see the giant ones indoors, outside, just everywhere😩. From what I saw in Google apartment reviews, seems like some ppl experienced tiny cockroaches in Tulsa, but not the huge Houston “water bugs” type roaches.

I was born and raised in Tulsa and have lived here most of my life and I have never heard of coyotes being an issue. This must be a new thing with all the expansion disturbing their habitat. It may also depend on what area of Tulsa you reside.

@@mdm032s I did see multiple reports on Tulsa channel 2’s KZbin about dogs reportedly attacked or mauled by coyotes in recent years. The oldest case I saw was back in 2017 in Midtown (I didn’t go back any farther than that), a story about 3 dogs killed by 1 coyote in South Tulsa in 2023, and another incident as recent as March of this year. The stories came from different parts of Tulsa. I’m not sure how much development is causing this, but definitely scary for me as a newbie! 😳

Ive never seen a coyote in tulsa but there are definitely hawks here. they typically dont go for cats cause they're too big.

@@space3828 What a relief! 😅 My cat is definitely too chunky to get taken! lol All jokes aside, I found a few Channel 2 reports about coyote attacks in Tulsa in recent years while doing this video. I wouldn’t say it’s rampant, but coyotes are definitely here in Tulsa. All of the news reports I saw were about dogs attacked or mauled, but I heard to watch out for any small pets.
