Surviving Winter in a Hot Tent with a Gun! | Trap, Cook, and Eat Wild Delicious Animals, Fish, Syrup

We hunker down in the frigged temperatures in Northern Canada in a canvas tent, and battle to survive and find food in the harsh unforgiving environment. My Gear (Shop and Support): thewoodedbeardsman.com/
We pursue snowshoe hare, or varying hare, unlike a rabbit, it turns white, it is one of the only reliable foods to be found in the dead of winter. We will set out a bunch of traps to catch hare, show trail camera footage of the snares in action and how the hares react to it, all the while preparing wild foods such as deer, raccoon, rainbow trout and wild rice.
We will show you how to snare hare, how to set up a winter canvas hot tent, run a wood stove and stay warm in the Northern Climate of Canada. The wood stove keeps us warm mostly overnight, but needs to be fed every few hours or the temperatures plummet. We will guide you how to winter camp in comfort and safety.
We use double sleeping bags to camp out in the winter as well as a camp mat and cot. The tent fluctuates from very warm to very cold as it is not insulated. With no way to trap the heat, the fire must be constantly kept going inside.
Jeremy (One Wildcrafter) is eating an all wild foods diet for the whole of 2019, so this is an interesting test for him. Can we snare enough hare to sustain ourselves over the winter months? How easy is it to find foods in the winter when everything seems to be sleeping.

I gotta ask, and apologies if someone already asked and you answered elsewhere. What happens to the fur? It looks like all those furs by now would add up to at least a few very warm winter hats for the fam (or subscriber give-away/contest prize, that'd be one heck of an heirloom kind of item). Does anybody in Canada even know how to make fur hats anymore? Oh and same for the deer bones. There are some crafters that'll take the bones and horn to make various things from them (buttons, net-making needles, whatever ppl can make with a Dremel and carving bits). Even for goose feathers (seen pen quills made from them ... ). Oh and also, next time you hunt waterfowl, keep the down and make yourself a quilt/sleeping bag from it (put it in a high density waterproof nylon thing, cuz it gets very heavy when wet, apparently). I only mention that because your words about using everything that comes from an animal, stuck in my head. Also in the survival challenge up north (30 days) or possibly in the 9-days-in-the-north videos, there was mention of not knowing the caloric content of some of the meat and whatnot. On a whim I snooped. There IS a place in Mississauga (Ontario, ofc) that can do that, along with some macro-nutrient content stuff) for any samples sent to them. Just thought I'd mention it. I can dig up the info if it doesn't show up in a quick google search (food analysis Ontario lab was the search term I used) It'd be very good to know that for future use eh? Ok, now that I got all that off my chest I'll shut up and keep watching the content. Thank you for all the work you put in.
