You should hollow out a tree stump to use as a trash can. Make it look like a tree growing up out of the floor instead of a trash can. You can put a lid on it and have it double as an end table.

"...an end table." or a movable seat and if a second, rough thick lid were made and stored under the cabin it could be a movable work bench for heavy duty poundin' on.

Also - cut nails are usually hammered into a board WITH the taper of the nail and the grain of the wood so that the tapered sides of the nail don't separate the wood grain and make it crack, horizontally (in this case).

Handy tip to make window screens virtually disappear is to mask off the aluminium surround and lightly spray mesh with black spray can. You will be amazed at the way they simply seem to disappear and the view is so clear.

A couple of things to think about... One.. the sun is way better at making heat that electricity. Have you thought about making a solar heater for supplemental heat when the sun is out? It would save a lot of propane when the sun is out even if it's ridiculously cold. Two.. if you make an insulated tank you could keep the water from freezing with a solar heating panel. During extended dark periods a small heat exchanger and a small fire would give you warm water. Sawdust and with some borax to keep out the bugs is cheap insulation and a way to use something you make every day. Three.. now that the jackery is inside and warm the solar panels can be used year round to save running the generator so much. Just need to run an extra wire through the wall when you run the wire for the generator. Love the channel. You are living close to my dream.

You could build a screened in deck off your cabin. You can sleep on it in summer. A lot of people in the south used to do, and still do that. :) Then you don't have to bother putting your tent up if you don't want to. You could put a clear roof on it so you can still see the sky.

Use totes like the green one you have under the bed now to put the water buckets in or use a cement mixer tray like the black one you used to mix cement in. Even if they sweat the water can be easily dumped out of them without getting the floor wet.

You should make a water tower at the back of the cabin. You could insulate it well, add some electric heating coils and run it off a passive solar panel so it won’t freeze. Maybe pipe in the air from the peak of the cabin ceiling to help keep it from freezing…

Ryan, forget about taking things apart just to sand them. How about a hand planer or sander? In one day you could have the place done and without the need to remove everything, well you know the drill better than me. Once time becomes more important to you it will come to you. P.s. finish the ceiling, and then insulate the floor and call it a day.

Ryan, the solution for under your bed is a remnant piece of vinyl flooring. It's cheap and available at any big box home improvement store. Tack down the edges and give it a spay of WD40. It'll be slicker than greased owl poop.

On your 1lb. propane bottles, do you have the 20 lb. tank adapter to fill your 1lb. bottles? Refilling the 1 lb. bottles is much cheaper than buying the bottles. Easy to do a refill with the adapter. Thread the adapter in the tank, thread bottle on adapter, turn the whole thing upside down, open the tank valve. Wait a minute or two to let the bottle fill. You can hear the flow of propane as it fills. After you can't hear it you wait like 30 seconds or so, close the tank valve, unscrew the bottle and repeat till all your bottle full.

You could have "Ringworm Story Night with Ryan" reminiscing about the olden days of sleeping in the mud, walking back and forth to the deer castle through knee deep snow uphill both ways, a cold touche when taking showers at 20 degrees. Enjoy!
