Survivor's Guilt and Moving On. Survivor's Guilt and How to Move On. John talks about the feelings many people experience after a tragic event of a death or trauma. Many people experience false guilt or Survivor's guilt and they wonder how they will be able to move on with life. John offers encouragement and some helpful information. This video is dedicated to the students, parents and staff of the high school involved in the masse shooting in Parkland, Florida. John was asked to produce this video for the parents and students.

Its an incredible battle. I lost my love at 12. Found her on her floor. Heroine overdose. The truth is, i had no control over any of it. Completely powerless

carldevis if you don't get counseling soon enough that stuff (which was my case) sticks with you. We're talking that happened 28 years ago. I never got counseling until I was an adult. I was 5 when that happened, I am 33 now.

I lost my bestfriend to drug addiction. The same pills I did in front of him, he lost his life to. It’s a battle for sure. A war, even. But we are worthy of our own forgiveness. Never forget that.

What if you are the one who was blamed for being alive?

Hi Deb, that would be horrible. Don't listen or believe what they are saying. People say and do things that they don't really mean in the moment of grief. John

No one has a right to blame another person for simply being or remaining alive.

@@debhufnagel5912 this sounds like abuse. I am no psychologist, but maybe this is something a real psychologist could help with. Seriously. And it’s no weakness on your side to consult a doctor or psychologist with this experience. Because that’s what people who blame someone for being alive could try to dissuade you from seeking help to protect themselves from responsibility.
