Christof Rochel has expertly explained Susana's modus operandi, which is marvelous in its entirety. I can hear the polyphonic overtones clearly, and wish I could have done one-tenth as much on my saxophones. You are meritorious of all the praises and compliments that can be awarded to a self-taught vocal aficionado (-a). Susana, care that voice; God bless and keep you safely for always. With loving regards!

Very subtle but great! U actually made it sound like a synthetizer in an oscilating type of effect, which is awesome! I like it, sometimes it feels like singing and whistling at the same time.

I have been teaching harmonic singing since 1991 and running Spontaneous Choir. You don't seem to use your lips to form the notes whereas my techniques can. In fact, all harmonics exist on a spectrum of formants that deal with the ratio of mouth space and lip aperture. Also, your are using projected notes rather than subtle ones. There are 3 domains for vocal harmonics and each has variations on applications. One domain is the throat which is a technique and/or an extra note for 'the one voice chord'. Another domain is the mouth. Another domain is the mouth with the tongue vertical. Much of my play is directed toward vowel musicality. In other words, I could do 'silent night' in monotone with each vowel distorted within its syllable to match the tune.

Anna Faelens Just sing and shift your tongue from the back to the front and you tongue on the roof of your mouth to make the overtones stronger. Use an R sound and move your tongue while singing then see what happens.

I loved it. Great job. How can you do it? I mean , how is the overtone produced? I understand the fundamental but not the whistle or overtone. It's killing me, haha. I loved watching you :)
@SusanaCalvo9 жыл бұрын
Thank you,,, you are funny... I have left you with a link here so you can try it yourself.. how to lear to create an overtone sound :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp7Qq5lmlsd6aKc if you think about it this way it will make more sense.. whenever you make a sound/ a note your fundamental... there already exists overtones in your voice.. this technique serves as a filter to isolate all but one overtone so you only here that one that you control using your tongue and how you control the breathe that you release as you make the fundamental note.... try my video and see how you go :) have fun and practice.

If you grab the cheapest, oldest working oscilloscope you can find and you will recognise what sounds right visually. You would need a microphone and preamp for that. Your iPhone is both of those.

i might have done it first try, lmao. do you basically use your tongue to make and change notes like how a whistle is done, except hum while doing so?
@mr-idyllic_99508 жыл бұрын
Sorry this might be a stupid question but how do u make the high whistle notes i watched your overtone tutorial but im not getting the whistle sound
@SusanaCalvo8 жыл бұрын
+Mw3_Boss Thank you of your question and no question is silly. The whistle like you hear is the actual overtones which take practice to make. At first you may only make a soft lower type sound but with lots of practice and subtle movements of the tongue and using the resonance you too will be able to create overtones. keep practising :)

It appears that you're just singing and at the same time partially whistling, yeah? I just did this and easily produced the exact same sounds with the same tune, Silent Night. So this is called "polyphonic singing" huh? Cool! I am a polyphonic singer - awesome!
@SteveFrenchWoodNStuff7 жыл бұрын
No, it's not the same thing as whistling.
@starttherebellion91467 жыл бұрын
Well, whatever you call it, I just did the exact same thing. Didn't know it was called "polyphonic singing". Cool beans!
@starttherebellion91467 жыл бұрын
By the way, it is so easy to do... here's how: You form your lips as though you're whistling and then move your tongue in and out to create the specific resonance of the octaves in relation to the notes you're singing. Very easy, took me all of 3 minutes to learn the 4 resonate points for the notes she's doing it on. No big deal. Give it an "official sounding" title... ie: "polyphonic singing"... and you're good to go. XD
