Just started doing these when i do home workouts. Great exercise. I use 2 bands and do 50 reps x 3 sets...great burn in the glutes 🔥

Is is ok to do this exercise in the way you are supposed to move in table tennis, where you are not moving your leading leg first, but rather shuffle your way on your feet in combination with jumping lightly across the surface? In principle, you are not supposed to move your leading leg first, but in practice you are using your calf muscles and the rotation at the hip as a help to move sideways with this technique. Plenty of demonstrations of sideways movement in table tennis on youtube.

Do these exercises focus on hip flexors as well, or just glutes?

after this exercise my knee started swelling on inside...i am 72 and have had knee surgery on both knees before..should i be doing this safely

For sure do the band ABOVE the knee for you. I would even try it without the band first. ITBands get cranky after TKAs.

the gluteus maximus muscle does not work in this position because it is stretched this muscle straightens the hip joint, not flexes it

@@saratalbot6147 The gluteus medius is involved in this exercise, but I don't think she would want to train it because it doesn't affect the shape of the butt.
