When I plant up these coir lined baskets I put a small flattened plastic bag in the bottom, then the soil

Thanks for sharing this, Bev. To be honest, I have never used the coco fiber inserts before, so I was worried that as the baskets were watered, soil would come through the fiber. Fortunately, that hasn't happened in the least. Whew!

@@SusansInTheGarden it also helps retain the moisture so they don't dry out so fast.

We have gotten so much rain I haven’t been able to get a lot of my plants in the ground but have gotten some of my pots done. We go from 60’s to 80s, you just never know. I reuse all of my used pots and just took a shopping bag full to my local greenhouse grower.

LOL! Not a sitter- me too, I feel ya. Thanks for the video. We're having similar weather on Vancouver island and I feel behind too for the same reasons. Actually popping out today to finally, hopefully, buy my annuals. Take care.

Your porch looks very nice, Susan. I learn a lot from you and your hubby:) Also, I appreciate your sharing of some varieties (in another video). I also live in a 6a (in Massachusetts), so there are some similarities for sure. ... You know I made some pots for a friend of mine and she always asks how to water them -- she has a tendency to drown things. Last year was very wet for us, perhaps this year too. I'm not sure what to tell her. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears! (something easy and mostly fool proof, lol)

More awesome information. Off to the garden center I go. I am planting an asparagus bed for the first time. What veggies can I put in the open space between plants? Wish me luck.
@SusansInTheGarden7 ай бұрын
Hi, Carole. I hope you have fun at the garden center and sorry to be a bad influence! As far as companion plants for an asparagus bed, here are some ideas: basil, parsley, tomatoes, dill, and marigolds.
