If u don't live in Hawaii then your opinion doesnt count. Because many 711 stores in mainland sell sushi all sushi is made by different companies. To think all sushi at different 711 stores in different states taste the same is plain ignorance. Hawaii 711 is madd by a Japanese bento company frkm Japan so the sushi is not bad.

Same! I went to this place with “tempura rolls” but they basically just put in frozen shrimp and breadcrumbs that weren’t even cooked and I just couldn’t…i had to spit it out. My hometown is by the sea so maybe I just got used to “fresher” ingredients or to bread crumbs actually getting cooked but I have a feeling this chef would’ve had the guts to swallow it. Props to him!

+GrayXephyr I think that people know that the most important thing in sushi is how fresh it is. He does not have to be very mean to the cheap sushi, because people know that cheap sushi can't hold up at all to the real thing. So if he says something nice, people think "he is just being nice," not "glad that I do not have to spend a lot of money to get pretty good sushi."

Actually 7-11 food isnt considered bad in Japan, so it is a valid test. Although 7-11 in Japan and the US/rest of the world isnt the same, at all. They actually prepare good food and they use good quality ingredients in Japan. However this was also a video showing a chef eating cheap sushi, so 7-11 is still an option on that table.

One of the things that make sushi good apart from fresh ingredients and rice is the warmth of the hand of the sushi chef. It does give flavour to the sushi. When i went to japan, i was blown away by sushi bars - when the chef makes yout sushi right in front of you and put it on your plate IT’s the best TASTE ever. Never want to leave japan ever after that experience. The reason why some sushi are bad is because theyre cold OR have been sitting on the fridge for a long time.
