@@sushibykunihiro7534 Hi Kunihiro-san! And you are so polite, even in your instruction. I see many recipes online for Chicken Nanban and I know it is close to Karaage, I'd love to kindly add it to your request list , if you have one I miss eating this meal from a Japanese Restaurant from years back where they had Chicken Nanban with the sauce on the side - not smothered and the chicken was sort of sweet and it was presented with Japanese Potato Salad and a side of noodles. It was a combined Umami heaven! :) Once again Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu Kunihiro-san!

I tried making this last night. Didn't have any sake, so I used Mirin instead. Surprisingly, it came out rather good. Not quite as crispy as I had hoped, but I think the oil wasn't quite hot enough. You really taste the marinade in this dish, so I suggest having rice along with it, even if it isn't curry rice. The rice and the karaage really complement each other.

Hi Kunihiro. I love karage!!! Thank you for the wonderful videos and great recipes. You really break down the ingredients and instructions so so clear and well. I loved this recipe. I hope you post a video on ‘chicken katsu’ as well at one point. I lived in Japan for 2 years as a teacher and chicken katsu was one of my favorites there. I had it for lunch nearly every day, lol! I went to one of those old fashioned little family places in Kumamoto, where they would pair it with sides like a tiny portion of potato salad and a little tablespoon portion of spaghetti and tomato sauce, and maybe some tiny tsukemono on the side and a little fishcake slice. A spot of Japanese hot mustard on the side, of course. It was all so simple and beautiful, but above all, amazingly delicious. Anyhow, thank you again! 😊

Thank you so much for the wonderful instructions, so in details but also with full explanations of "why". We went to Japan 5 years ago. My daughter had Tori Karaage at a store in Kawasaki Eki... and fell in love with it. She would order this dish when we go to a Japanese restaurant in the UK, but she has been disappointed... till today. I followed your recipe to the dot, and my daughter absolutely loved it. She said it was exactly how she remembered it. Subscribed and will learn more from you.

Great video! Thank you! I've been making this for about 5 years, and after I saw this video, I tried adding the egg because I usually go straight from the marinade to the starch. It was good, but it gave the coating a more, I don't know, crunchy feeling like southern-fried chicken. Straight into the starch is more crispy. I prefer it without the egg, but everyone likes different things :)

Update: After watching your video. I ran to the supermarket to buy ingredients and cooked it. It was so delicious. Crispy outside and juicy on the inside.❤❤❤ I feel like I have cooked karaage several times, but this is my first cooking it.🎉🎉🎉 I usually buy karaage at the conbini or supa. Thank you for sharing. I can cook karaage now! I never thought it would be so easy. I love the way the instructions were explained, and using chopsticks to measure the oil temperature was so clever!
