Here's where it gets really crazy: 1. The insurance company pays out for the loss of the stolen vehicle and the victim needs whatever they can get immediately to recover and stay alive. The insurance companies know this and offer as little as possible to compensate for the loss... 2. The stolen vehicle that has been recovered is now in police custody (pending trial) and nobody is going to recover it. The insurance company has no interest in it...
