Refreshing to hear Bob Hope in a role I actually enjoy. Makes me wish he'd done dramatic acting full-time, because imo he was a lousy comedian.

Did people really ever think Bob Hope was funny?

I hope they did!! He was funny and remember comedy was totally different from what it is today!! It's good to see him in a serious role as it's so rare to hear it!!

He was awesome ;) Try "Ghostbreakers" or "The Cat and the Canary". He’s the wisecracking wise guy coward 😊 In another movie, playing an actor in the makeup chair for a war scene he’s, of course, complaining about something when his makeup artist pipes up: "What you have to go through..... to make a fortune". And then Bob: "More blood... make me braver".

@@tomcurran8470 Captive audience. They needed any relief they could get whether or not they'd have watched him voluntarily.
